Patriots Drop A-10 Opener at Davidson

DAVIDSON, N.C. – The George Mason women's soccer team (0-4, 0-1) fell to Davidson by a score of 3-1 in the Patriots' Atlantic 10 opener.
 
Mason, who defeated the Wildcats last season, could not overcome the nine shots (three on goal) by Davidson on Sunday afternoon. The loss brings the Patriots' current losing skid to four.
 
"Congrats to Davidson on a well-deserved victory," head coach Todd Bramble said postgame. "We showed some resilience and determination in the second half but that was too little, too late. We are looking forward to the week ahead without a midweek game to get our team healthy."
 
The Patriots did score their first goal of the season as junior Sara Chontosh tallied her third career goal on a rebound chance in an open net.
 
The goal brought the Patriots back within one, but the Wildcats answered quickly after to extend the lead back to two, an advantage they would hold.
