Patriots Fall in Straight-Sets to NJIT

FAIRFAX, Va. – The 14^th-ranked George Mason men's volleyball team (7-5, 4-4) dropped their fourth-straight contest, falling to 12^th-ranked NJIT in three sets (23-25, 18-25, 19-25), on Saturday night.

It has been a conference slate of up's and down's for Mason, from winning their first four conference games a month ago, to losing their last four EIVA contests. The Patriots remain in third place in the EIVA following Saturday night.

"We did not play the way we should have tonight and it showed," head coach Jay Hosack said. "We are doing some good things, but not consistently enough. We have a lot of work to do, but I know my guys, and I know we will get after it in practice."

INSIDE THE NUMBERS

Senior Hayden Wagner finished with a team-high 10 kills in two sets played.
Freshman Omar Hoyos tallied a pair of kills, an ace and a solo block in two sets.
Redshirt sophomore Zach Talamoa paced the Patriots with 31 assists, coupled with five digs and one block.
Freshman Jack Bolz earned seven kills.
Redshirt freshmen Merit Monogue and Eamonn Testerman and freshman Jason Ashenfelter all made their Mason debuts on Saturday.

UP NEXT

The Patriots take a trip to Charleston, W.Va. to face the Golden Eagles on Friday, March 12, and Saturday, March 13. First serve for both matches is set for 7 p.m. ET.
