Kamara Scores First Career Goal, Patriots Fall to William & Mary in Double OT

FAIRFAX, Va. –
Mason freshman midfielder Ishmail Kamara scored his first career goal, but the Patriots fell to William & Mary, 2-1, in double overtime on Saturday afternoon at George Mason Stadium.
 
Mason (0-3-0) took the lead in the 38th minute when Kamara found the back of the net from 10 yards out.  Off a throw-in by sophomore Leon Reilhac, Kamara wasted no time and blistered a shot just inside the post to put the Patriots in front 1-0.
 
William & Mary had nearly taken the lead a minute earlier when sophomore forward Alexander Levengood was one-on-one with Mason freshman goalkeeper Jackson Lee.  Levengood scored, but he was ruled offside on the play.
 
The Tribe netted the equalizer early in the second half.
 
In the 54th minute, sophomore midfielder Marcos Villeda scored off a cross from 10 yards out to tie the match, 1-1.  Villeda's first career goal was set up by sophomore forward Diba Nwegbo and Levengood.
 
In the final minute of the second overtime, the Patriots attempted to clear, but William & Mary sophomore midfielder Alfredo Bozalongo stepped in front and scored from 25 yards out at the top of the box for the game-winner to lift the Tribe to the 2-1 victory.  It was his third career tally and second game-winner.
 
Lee made five saves for the Patriots, while William & Mary redshirt-freshman goalkeeper Will Stack made four saves in the match.
 
HOW THEY SCORED
 
38' | Kamara off a long throw in from 10 yards out inside the left post.
54' | Villeda chipped a shot under the goalkeeper from 10 yards out off a cross.
110' | Bozalongo inside the left post from 25 yards out.
 
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
 
The Tribe outshot the Patriots 15-11, including 7-5 in shots on goal.  William & Mary had 8 corner kicks, while George Mason had four in the match.
 
Kamara attempted five shots for the second straight game, with two on goal against the Tribe.  Levengood attempted seven shots, with three on goal in the match.
 
In overtime, William & Mary had six shots, while Mason was held to two.

The Patriots will have a week before their next game at Davidson on Sunday, March 14 with the opening kick scheduled for 11 a.m. in Davidson, N.C.
