Game Recap: Men's Volleyball |
FAIRFAX, Va. – The 14th-ranked George Mason men's volleyball team (7-4, 4-3) suffered a close loss on Friday night against the 12th-ranked NJIT Highlanders in four sets (25-21, 19-25, 23-25, 23-25).

The Patriots now fall to 4-3 in conference play, after starting the year 4-0 in the EIVA.

"Hats off to NJIT," head coach Jay Hosack stated postgame. "They played a great game and kept pressure on us all night long. I like the way our guys responded to a week of practice where we gave them specific tasks to improve upon. I thought we did a really good job of improving on those aspects of the game."

The Patriots took command of the match early, decisively winning the first game by a score of 25-21. But the Highlanders crawled back and defeated the Green & Gold in the next three sets.

"We have to learn to finish," Hosack said. "When we are up late in sets and we don't finish those sets, that means we are taking our foot off the gas. We cannot do that against good teams."
