FAIRFAX, Va. – The George Mason women's volleyball team capped off the home portion of its schedule with a four-set victory over La Salle on Wednesday afternoon in the RAC.
The Patriots improve to 4-5 in the Atlantic 10 East Regional Pod with one conference match remaining.
With the win, Mason snapped a five-game losing streak to the Explorers, dating back to 2017.
Mason was led by junior middle hitter
Katie Parmalee who registered a career-high nine blocks. She added a team-high 11 kills at a .320 clip to go along with three digs.
Freshman setter
Grace Kristofic notched her first career double-double with 16 assists and 10 digs.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- The Patriots put together one their best offensive performances of the season, finishing with a hitting percentage of .230 in the match. Mason tallied 42 kills and only 13 attacking errors while the Explorers posted 47 kills and 32 attacking errors (.099).
- Mason outblocked La Salle 11 to three behind Parmalee's career performance.
- Four Patriots finished with double-digit digs: Marlanna Bozicevich (17), Stephanie Der (14), Marley Willard (12) and Kristofic (10).
- Junior Peyton Ehmke and freshman Katelyn Clarke each finished with eight kills in the match on a .316 hitting percentage.
- It was all Parmalee to begin the match, posting six of her nine blocks – two solo – in the first set. Mason won the opening frame by a score of 25-19.
- The Patriots hit a set-best .303 to claim the second frame, 25-16. Sophomore Christina Walker tallied five of her nine kills in the stanza.
- La Salle used a 7-1 scoring run to take the third set, 25-21.
- Mason scored nine straight points to lead 13-6 in the fourth set. The Patriots weathered the Explorer comeback to win the final frame, 25-20.
