No. 14 Mason Sweeps Sacred Heart Inside EagleBank Arena

FAIRFAX, Va. – The George Mason men's volleyball team improved to 11-5 (8-4) on the season after sweeping Sacred Heart inside EagleBank Arena on Sunday.
 
Mason defeated the Pioneers in the first game 25-15, 25-22, 25-22. The Green & Gold would close out Sacred Heart in the second match 25-15, 29-27, 26-24.
 
The pair of wins puts Mason on a four-game winning streak. Mason has won in straight-sets in three of those four wins.
 
"First off, a huge thank you to everyone who made it possible for us to play inside EagleBank," head coach Jay Hosack said. "That was a fantastic way to host a match. As for our men, I thought we executed very well, especially later on in the sets as the match progressed. We did not give up many runs and played disciplined when it mattered most."
 
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
  • Senior Sam Greenslade led the Patriots with 22 kills on the day (11 kills in each match).
  • Greenslade also earned 11 digs and two service aces in six sets of action
  • Senior Hayden Wagner recorded 20 kills in just four sets on Sunday.
  • Freshman Omar Hoyos tallied 17 kills in the two matches.
  • Redshirt senior Brad Creamer notched two solo blocks in six sets played.
  • Creamer also tallied 11 kills throughout the two matches.
  • Redshirt sophomore Zach Talamoa got the Patriot offense going with 58 assists in five sets.
  • Mason improves their all-time record to 17-3 against Sacred Heart.
 
 
UP NEXT
The Patriots will travel to Loretto, Pa. to battle Saint Francis next weekend (March 26-27).
