FAIRFAX, Va. – George Mason University men's basketball freshman guard
Tyler Kolek has been named the Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week for the third time this season, the league office announced Tuesday.

Kolek also garnered the weekly accolade on December 28 and February 15.

The Cumberland, R.I. product averaged a team-best 15.5 points to go along with 4.0 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.5 steals in a 2-0 week for the Patriots. He also shot 50 percent (7-14) from 3-point range and 47.1 percent (8-17) from the floor.

In Wednesday's comeback win over GW, Kolek notched team bests in points (16, 3-7 3pt FG), assists (4) and steals (3) while grabbing five rebounds. Then, in Saturday's win over La Salle, Kolek notched 15 points (4-7 3pt FG) in just 19 minutes of the 89-54 win.

On the year, Kolek leads all A-10 rookies in scoring (11.1 ppg) and 3pt FG made/game (2.5). He's made the fifth-most 3-pointers (50) by a freshman in school history in just 20 games this season.

Kolek and the Patriots open the 2021 Atlantic 10 Championship on Thursday at 5:30 p.m. Mason will play the winner of the Wednesday game between No. 11 George Washington/No. 14 Fordham. The game will be televised on NBC Sports Network. Â
