FAIRFAX, Va. – The George Mason women's soccer team (1-4, 1-1) is set to host a pair of conference matches this week, facing Richmond on Thursday (March 18) at 3 p.m. ET and VCU on Sunday (March 21) at 1 p.m. ET.

Both matches will be played inside George Mason Stadium and both matches will be streamed via ESPN+.

LAST TIME OUT
The Patriots defeated George Washington in overtime fashion by a score of 2-1 last Sunday. It was Mason's first victory of the season and the Green & Gold's first conference win.

Junior Dacheka Kolcum was named Atlantic 10's Player of the Week after recording a goal and an assist on five shots (four shots on goal) in 81 minutes of play. Kolcum's golden goal gave the Patriots the win in the 103rd minute.

Freshman Katie Saunders tallied her first collegiate goal (14th minute) in the win on Sunday, giving the Patriots an early lead.

A LOOK AT THE SPIDERS (0-2, 0-2)
Richmond hasn't had the start they hoped in 2021. The Spiders dropped their first two games of the season and have yet to score.

The Spiders return four of their top scorers, including seniors Katie Tritt (four goals), TJ Anderson (two goals), Molly Morgan (two goals) and graduate senior Alyssa Walker (11 goals). Walker was a 2019 A-10 Second Team All-Conference selection.

The last time these two programs played, the Patriots defeated the Spiders by a score of 2-0 on Oct. 14, 2018.

Richmond was picked to finish 12th in the Atlantic 10 Preseason Poll, announced by the conference back  in February, four spots behind the Patriots (eighth).

A LOOK AT THE RAMS (3-2-1)
VCU began 2021 on a three-game winning streak. Despite the great start, the Rams are currently on a two-game losing streak, recently falling to NC State and Virginia.

The Rams have outscored their opposition 12-6 this season, but have been outshot 60-76. VCU currently ranks third in the A-10 in goals per game (2.0)

As opposed to the Patriots, the Rams have yet to play a conference game this season. Sunday will be VCU's A-10 opener.

The last time these two teams met, VCU defeated Mason by a score of 5-1 on Sept. 29, 2019.

The Rams were selected to finish fifth in the Atlantic 10 Preseason Poll with one first-place vote.
