FAIRFAX, Va. –
The George Mason softball team (4-0, 2-0) swept St. Bonaventure in the Patriots' conference-opening doubleheader on Saturday.

Mason won the first game by a score of 5-2, and came out victorious in the second game by a score of 2-1. The two victories mark Mason's first two conference wins in as many games in 2021.

GAME ONE: Mason 5, SBU 2
In the first contest, Mason got out to an early lead when junior EJ Bankson drove in sophomore Rachel Warrens with an RBI single in the bottom of the first.

In the bottom of the third, Warrens earned an RBI sacrifice fly to left field which scored senior Saige Cisler to give Mason a two-run lead.

The Bonnies answered with a two-run home run in the top of the fourth to tie the game at two.

The Patriots blew the game wide open in the bottom of the fifth as Warrens tallied a two-run RBI single, scoring senior Meghan Graham and junior Amber Verstynen. Warrens would later score to grow the Green & Gold's lead to three. A lead the Patriots would hold.
