BRONX, New York – The George Mason women's volleyball team dropped a road contest to Fordham on Friday evening in New York.
The Patriots fell in four sets – 22-25, 27-25, 20-25, 21-25 – to move to 3-4 in the Atlantic 10 East Regional Pod and 3-9 overall.
Mason's junior class of
Marlanna Bozicevich,
Katie Parmalee,
Peyton Ehmke and
Erin Derick shined in a tightly contested matchup between the two teams.
In as many games, Bozicevich notched a double-double with 13 kills and 23 digs. Parmalee tied her career-high 16 kills while Ehmke recorded 16 kills at a clip of .406. Ehmke also added a team-high five blocks.
Setter
Erin Derick recorded her fifth double-double of the season with 48 assists and 15 digs. She added four kills and four blocks in the loss.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- After dropping the first set by a score of 25-22, Mason fought back to take the second frame in extra points (27-25).
- Fordham used a pair of scoring runs to take the third set, 25-20, and went on a 6-1 spurt in the final set to claim the match in four.
- As a team, Mason registered 114 digs – the fourth-most in program history. Four Patriots finished with double-digit digs, including a team-high 24 from libero Stephanie Der.
- Freshman Grace Kristofic continues to be a strong addition on defense, recording her second straight game with double-digit digs (20).
- Fordham finished with 63 kills and 19 attacking errors for a hitting percentage of .213. Mason hit at a clip of just .167 with 57 kills and 25 errors.
- Mason was outblocked 12 to eight.
