Mason Defeats Charleston (W.Va.) in Four Sets on Friday Night

CHARLESTON, W.Va. – The 15^th-ranked George Mason men's volleyball team (8-5, 5-4) wins three-straight sets to complete a four-set comeback victory against Charleston (W.Va.) on Friday night.

The win marks the 14^th victory in a row for Mason when facing the Golden Eagles and the third time this season the Green & Gold have defeated Charleston.

The triumph also snaps Mason's four-game losing skid.

"I thought we came out a little slow, but we figured out how to shift into the right gear in the second set," head coach Jay Hosack said. "It will be just as tough tomorrow night, so we have to come out of the gate a little faster."

INSIDE THE NUMBERS

Senior Hayden Wagner tallied a game-high 18 kills, including a service ace and two solo blocks.
Fellow senior Sam Greenslade notched 10 kills, two aces and six digs.
Redshirt senior Luis Velez earned a career high four service aces and a solo block.
Junior Trevor Kennan recorded a team-high nine digs.
Freshman Sam Peters made his first collegiate start at middle blocker for the Patriots on Friday.
Peters tallied two kills, two service aces and two solo blocks in his first start.
The Patriots recorded 10 service aces to the Golden Eagles' three.
Both teams earned 45 kills in four sets.

The Patriots will face Charleston for the final time this season tomorrow, Saturday (March 13), with first serve at 7 p.m. ET inside the Wehrle Innovation Center.
