FAIRFAX, Va. – The George Mason women's volleyball team will head to New York to face Fordham on Friday at 5 p.m. inside Rose Hill Gym.
Friday's match will be broadcast nationally on ESPN+.
LAST TIME OUT
Mason dropped a pair of matches to La Salle (3-0) and Fordham (3-1) last weekend to move to 3-8 overall and 3-3 in the Atlantic 10 East Regional Pod.
Junior middle hitter Katie Parmalee led the Patriots, averaging 3.86 kills and 0.86 blocks per set over the two matches. She was the team leader in kills in both games, tallying 13 kills against La Salle and 14 against Fordham.
Mason's starting libero turned outside hitter Marlanna Bozicevich put down a career-high 13 kills to go along with 14 digs for her first career double-double against Fordham. Despite the position change, she still ranks eighth in the A-10 in digs per set with 4.06.
On defense, libero Stephanie Der averaged 3.00 digs per set while Peyton Ehmke posted eight blocks for 1.14 blocks per set.
1,000-ASSIST CLUB
Junior setter Erin Derick became the 12th player in program history to surpass 1,000 career assists on Sunday against Fordham. She finished with 40 assists and added eight digs, three blocks and a kill in the loss.
She is averaging 8.71 assists per set, good for seventh in the Atlantic 10. She has posted four double-doubles this season and dished out 40-plus assists on four occasions.
SCOUTING THE RAMS
Fordham defeated George Washington (3-1) and George Mason (3-1) last weekend to sit at 2-1 overall and 2-0 in the A-10 East Regional Pod.
Freshman Whitley Moody, reigning A-10 Rookie of the Week, leads the team with 3.83 kills per set. Against the Patriots on Sunday, she recorded a match-high 17 kills and added 15 digs.
On defense, freshman Isabel Fitchel boasts a league-best 2.08 blocks per set while Mallory Lipski tallies 4.75 digs per frame.
Fordham leads the all-time series 7-5 and is on a three-match winning streak against the Patriots.
SCHEDULE UPDATE
Mason's home match against La Salle, originally scheduled for Feb. 28, has been rescheduled for Wednesday, March 24 at 3 p.m. inside the RAC.
