FAIRFAX, Va. - The George Mason University men's basketball team plays its first home game in 20 days when the Green & Gold host Fordham Wednesday.
Tip-off between the Patriots and Rams is set for 7 p.m. Wednesday's game will be broadcast on ESPN+, featuring commentary from Bill Rohland. In addition, Rohland will call the game on the GoMason Digital Network, with streaming coverage beginning at 6:45 p.m.
PATRIOT POINTS
* Mason went 1-2 on its three-game road trip, including a 74-65 setback at Dayton on Friday. Mason trailed by seven with under two minutes to play and had a chance to cut it to four, but could not make a couple key baskets down the stretch as the Flyers held on for the win.
* Junior
Jordan Miller led Mason with 16 points against the Flyers and has now reached double figures in six-straight games. Miller is 10th in the A-10 in scoring (15.9 ppg) this season and leads Mason in 3-point percentage (.396).
* Senior
Javon Greene continued his sizzling play of late at UD, tallying 14 points while making four of eight 3-pointers (.500). He's averaging 14.5 points, 7.0 rebounds, 3.3 assists and shooting 52.4 percent from deep over the past three games.

Tyler Kolek notched 13 points at Dayton and dished out a team-high three assists. Kolek leads the A-10 in scoring amongst freshmen (11.0 ppg) and is fourth in the conference overall in 3pt FG made/game (2.5). He also leads Mason in assists (2.3/game).
* Mason has made 8.6 3-pointers/game over the past three contests. The Patriots are fifth in the league in 3pt percentage in A-10 play (.337).
* Over the past two games, the Patriots are turning the ball over just 8.0 times/game while forcing 13.5 opponent miscues.
* On Jan. 30,
AJ Wilson became the second Mason player to record 200 blocks in a career. He is 10 away from tying George Evans for first on the school's all-time blocks list. Wilson is fifth in the nation in career blocks and 19th in the country in blocks/game this season (2.5). He leads the A-10 in blocks/game in 2020-21.

Javon Greene ranks t-5th on Mason's all-time steals list (151) and is just two away from leapfrogging Myron Contee and John Niehoff to claim solo fourth on the all-time Patriot ledger. Nationally, he is t-36th in career thefts.
* The Patriots rank 332nd nationally in free throw percentage (.617), although the team went a much improved 7-of-9 (.777) at Dayton. Amongst Patriot starters,

* After relying on the 3-ball during the non-conference slate, Mason now ranks third in the A-10 in percentage of points coming from inside the arc (.553) in league play.
* In Mason's last four losses, the Patriots are giving up 78.8 points/game and allowing opponents to shoot 52.4 percent from the floor. The Patriots are shooting 38.1 percent in those contests.
HISTORY vs. FORDHAM
Wednesday's matchup marks the 12th all-time meeting between Mason and Fordham. The Rams hold a 7-4 advantage in the series, although the Patriots have won four of the past five matchups. Mason is 2-1 against the Rams in Fairfax. The Patriots earned their first ever A-10 Tournament win over Fordham with an 82-71 overtime victory in Pittsburgh on March 9, 2017.
Last season, Mason capped its A-10 slate with a 65-61 win in the Bronx on March 7, 2020. The Patriots led by two (61-59) with 3:24 to play, but closed out the win by holding the Rams without a field goal for the remainder of the contest.
Javon Greene came off the bench to bolster the Patriots with a team-high 19 points. He nailed 5-of-7 3-point attempts (.714), dished out four assists and made two steals on the day.
Jordan Miller added 17 points (6-10 FG), five rebounds and four assists in nearly a full game for the Green & Gold (38:33).

The Patriots have amassed an all-time record of 15-12 against colleges located within the five boroughs of New York City. The majority of those contests have come against Fordham (4-7), but Mason also has suited up against LIU (4-2), Manhattan (4-1), Wagner (2-0), St. Francis (1-0), St. John's (0-1), and Div. III Brooklyn College (0-1). The Patriots have played teams from the Bronx (Fordham, Manhattan), Staten Island (Wagner), Brooklyn (LIU, St. Francis, Brooklyn) and Queens (St. John's). But the Patriots have never played a Manhattan-based college in men's basketball.
A LOOK AT THE RAMS (2-9, 2-9 A-10, NET #300, KenPom #255)
Fordham was picked to finish 14th in the A-10 preseason poll. The Rams did not play a non-conference season and are 2-9 to begin A-10 play. The Rams rank 109th nationally in defensive efficiency (0.984 points/possession), but are 344th out of 357 teams in offensive efficiency (0.902 points/possession). The team is last in the A-10 in both field goal percentage (.367) and 3pt FG percentage (.279). Sophomore Chris Austin leads the team in scoring (11.5 ppg) and shoots 35.5 percent from 3-point range, while Joel Soriano adds 10.6 points per contest and ranks eighth nationally with 3.73 offensive rebounds/game. Junior Jalen Cobb chips in 7.0 points and dishes out 4.3 assists per contest.
