FAIRFAX, Va. – The George Mason women's volleyball team begins Atlantic 10 play this weekend with a pair of home matches against George Washington.
The Patriots will host the Colonials on Saturday and Sunday at the RAC with both matches slated for 1 p.m.
GW leads the all-time series, 43-10, and won both matches in 2019.
The matches will be broadcast nationally on ESPN+.
LAST TIME OUT
Mason moved to 0-5 on the young season after suffering losses to Howard (3-0), Coppin State (3-1) and VCU (3-0) last weekend.
The Patriots opened its home slate against Coppin State on Saturday, pushing the Eagles to four sets. In the loss,
Katie Parmalee posted a career-high 10 kills and three service aces.
In Mason's straight-set loss to VCU,
Jewel Clark and
Peyton Ehmke tabbed seven kills apiece to lead the Patriots.
Sophomore libero
Stephanie Der averaged 4.00 digs per set over the three matches. Ehmke added 2.30 kills and 0.80 blocks per set.
ATLANTIC 10 PLAY
The Patriots will play a 10-match A-10 schedule beginning on Saturday, Feb. 6. Mason will play five home and five road contests during the regular season, scheduled to conclude on Friday, March 26.
The Patriots will face George Washington, Rhode Island, La Salle and Fordham in the A-10's East Regional Pod. The 2020-21 Atlantic 10 Championship will be held April 2-3 at the league's top seed.
TICKETING INFORMATION/SAFETY PROTOCOLS
The RAC Gym will have a capacity of 30 spectators, limited to student-athlete and staff guests as well as Mason students. Tickets will not be available to the public. Face coverings will be required and seating will be in pods that are socially distanced. Students may request a ticket online.
