FAIRFAX, Va. – The George Mason women's basketball team will take on Rhode Island on Friday in Kingston, R.I. Tip-off in the Ryan Center is scheduled for 4 p.m.
Friday's game will be broadcast nationally on ESPN+.
PATRIOT POINTS
* Mason (3-13, 0-9 A-10) will look to snap a nine-game slide in conference play on Friday against Rhode Island. The Patriots will also look for their first road of the season.
* Last time out, Mason suffered a 67-52 loss to Richmond on Sunday. The Spiders made a season-high 15 three-pointers in the win. Mason is 1-8 when its opponent makes 7-or-more treys.
* The Patriots were led by freshman
Teodora Popovic and sophomore
Jordan Wakefield. Popovic scored a team-high 13 points on 3-of-4 shooting from behind-the-arc while Wakefield added 11 points on 4-of-7 shooting.
* In just five career games, Popovic has led the team in scoring in two of them: Richmond (Jan. 31) and La Salle (Jan. 24). She is averaging 6.8 points and 2.2 rebounds per contest for the Patriots.
* Balzer has started the last four games and is averaging 10.0 points and 3.0 three-point field goals per game over that stretch. She has made 12 three-pointers and is shooting 33.3 percent from the field overall.
* In A-10 games only, Balzer ranks 12th in three-point field goals made per game with 1.8.
* Jefferson leads the team is rebounding with 7.1 boards per game – good for 11th in the A-10. She is also averaging 8.6 points per contest.

Marika Korpinen led the team in rebounding against Richmond on Sunday. The pair pulled down six rebounds apiece. It marked the eighth and fifth time, respectively, they led the team in rebounding this season.
* Doster is averaging 6.9 rebounds and 6.6 points per game. She also ranks fourth in the A-10 in blocked shots (20) and seventh in blocked shots per game (1.7). She has registered at least one block in the last four games.
* Korpinen ranks 20th in scoring (11.0), 23rd in rebounding (5.9) and 12th in FT percentage (.755) in the Atlantic 10.
* The Patriots are averaging 46.6 points in conference games and allowing 64.7 points.
* The Patriots are first in the conference in offensive rebounds per game (15.1) and third in total rebounds per game (41.1). The Patriots have grabbed 110 offensive boards in league play – good for second in the A-10.

The Rams snapped a four-game losing streak to the Patriots with a 47-42 win over Mason last season on Feb. 1, 2020 in Kingston, R.I. Mason leads the all-time 4-3, with all seven meetings coming since the Patriots joined the Atlantic 10 in 2013-14.
SCOUTING RHODE ISLAND
Rhode Island enters Friday's contest on a five-game A-10 winning streak to sit at 7-2 in the conference and 7-5 overall.
The Rams are led by Emmanuelle Tahane who is averaging 16.0 points and shooting a league-best 62.0 percent from the floor. She also paces the squad with 10.1 rebounds per contest. Marie-Paule Foppossi adds 11.8 points per game and shoots 42.0 percent from the field.
Rhode Island ranks second in the Atlantic 10 in field goal percentage (.432) but is last in the league in field goal defense (.445).
