FAIRFAX, Va. – The George Mason women's basketball team could not overcome a cold shooting night, falling to Davidson 68-42 on Saturday in EagleBank Arena.

Marika Korpinen and
Camarie Gatling – prior to Saturday night's matchup.
Korpinen finished with seven points, and two three-pointers, against the Wildcats. In her career for the Green & Gold, she ranks 20th all-time at Mason in three-pointers with 80 and 22nd in assists with 179.
Graduate student
Daijah Jefferson led the team in scoring with 10 points. She pulled down a team-high nine rebounds and blocked two shots.
Sophomore
Jordan Wakefield and freshman
Taylor Jameson added seven points apiece.
Mason shot 28.6 percent from the floor (14-49) and made all six of its three-pointers in the second half, finishing 6-of-18 from deep (.333).
Davidson made 10 three-point field goals (.357) and finished 35.6 percent from the field overall (21-59). The Wildcats were +7 on the glass (42-35) and scored 14 points off Mason's 18 turnovers.
The Wildcats went on a 15-1 run over six minutes to begin the first quarter, taking a 20-3 lead. Wakefield ended the scoring drought with a layup at 1:10 (20-5). Davidson made a layup with time expiring to lead 22-7 after one quarter of play.
It was a slow start to the second period with

Mason held Davidson to just 1-of-12 from the floor and 0-of-6 from deep in the quarter but struggled to find its offensive rhythm on the other end. The Patriots went 2-of-10 from the field and committed five turnovers to trail by 15 at the break (27-12).
The Patriots could not overcome a first half in which the team made 4-of-22 field goal attempts (.182). Davidson went on to outscore Mason 41-30 in the second half to secure the 68-42 victory.
Up next, Mason will travel to crosstown rival George Washington on Sunday, Feb. 28. Tip-off in the District is scheduled for 2 p.m. on ESPN+.
