KINGSTON, R. I. — The George Mason women's volleyball team was swept by Rhode Island on Sunday morning in Kingston, R.I.
The Patriots (3-6, 3-1 A-10) fell in straight sets to the Rams
— 25-8, 25-21, 25-14.
Mason will take the next week off from Atlantic 10 play and instead host Howard on Sunday, Feb. 21 for a non-conference match. First serve is scheduled for 1 p.m. inside the RAC.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Sophomore Yanira Lopez-Barahona led the Patriot offense with a career-high 21 kills at a .277 clip. She added three digs, a service ace and block in the loss.
- Junior Erin Derick stepped up when several Patriots were unavailable due to injuries. She notched 13 assists, seven digs and a kill in the all-around performance.
- On defense, junior Marlanna Bozicevich registered a team-high eight digs. Sophomore Stephanie Der added a pair of digs to steady Mason's passing game.
- Freshman Grace Kristofic made her first career start, dishing out 14 assists and posting seven digs and two blocks.
- As a team, Mason posted 29 kills on 87 attempts for a hitting percentage of .138. Rhode Island finished with a clip of .398, recording 44 kills and only seven attacking errors.
- The Patriots were outblocked eight to three.
