Mason Hosts Duquesne for #Play4Kay Pink Game Sunday

FAIRFAX, Va. – The George Mason women's basketball team welcomes Duquesne to EagleBank Arena on Sunday for its #Play4Kay Pink Game, presented by Sentara. Tip-off is scheduled for 2 p.m.

Sunday's game will be broadcast nationally on ESPN+, with commentary by Steve Kolbe. In addition, Brian McSweeney will call the game on the GoMason Digital Network, with pre-game coverage beginning at 1:50 p.m.

PATRIOT POINTS
* A career night for George Mason women's basketball graduate forward Daijah Jefferson was not enough as the Patriots suffered a 72-62 loss to St. Bonaventure on Friday in EBA. It marked the most points scored by the Patriots in A-10 play this season.
 
* Jefferson registered her third career double-double, scoring a career-high 25 points and grabbing a team-high 10 rebounds. It marked the most points scored in a game by a Patriot this season. By halftime, she had 14 points and eight rebounds.
 
* Her 25 points are tied for the fourth most by an Atlantic 10 player in conference play this season.
 
* Jefferson grabbed 10 rebounds for her fifth double-digit rebounding performance. It also marked the seventh time she's led the team in boards this season.
 
* Redshirt freshman Rachel Balzer scored 15 points vs. St. Bonaventure on 4-of-6 shooting from behind-the-arc. She has recorded 3-or-more three-pointers in six games.
 
* St. Bonaventure made 10 three-pointers (.400) and shot 46.6 percent from the floor overall (27-58). Mason drops to 1-10 when its opponent makes 7-or-more three-point field goals. The Patriots have allowed their last six opponents to register 7-or-more three-pointers.
 
* In A-10 games only, Balzer ranks 13th in three-point field goals made per game with 1.8. She has made 20 three-pointers in conference play.
 
* Senior Marika Korpinen leads the team in scoring with 9.8 points per game. She has been held to single digit scoring in the last four games she's played in.
 
* The Patriots have three players ranking in the top-25 in rebounding in the A-10 – Jefferson (9th, 7.2), Doster (17th, 6.3) and Korpinen (23rd, 5.5).
 
* Korpinen ranks sixth in FT percentage (.754) in the Atlantic 10, converting 45-of-59 attempts. As a team, the Patriots rank third in the A-10 in free throw percentage with a mark of .726.
 
* The Patriots are averaging 46.2 points in conference games and allowing 65.2 points. Mason is shooting 29.2 percent from the field and 26.4 percent from three-point range through the 11 games.
 
* The Patriots are first in the conference in offensive rebounds per game (14.3) and third in total rebounds per game (40.7). The Patriots have a league-best 733 total rebounds.
 
* Eight different Patriots have led the team in scoring this season - Korpinen (6), Jefferson (5), Balzer (2), Popovic (2), Wilson, Wakefield, Doster and Stam. Eight players are averaging at least 5.0 points per game.
 
SERIES HISTORY
The Patriots are looking for their first win over Duquesne since 1999. The Dukes have won eight straight in the series for a 9-2 all-time lead. They've won all eight meetings since the Patriots joined Atlantic 10 play in 2013-14. Duquesne defeated Mason 84-63 last season on Jan. 22, 2020 in Pittsburgh.
 
SCOUTING DUQUESNE
Duquesne is on a seven-game losing streak to sit at 1-5 in the Atlantic 10 and 2-8 overall. The Dukes recently fell to George Washington (63-45) on Friday night in Washington, D.C.
 
Preseason All-Conference selection Laia Sole leads the Dukes with 8.9 points per game and paces the squad with 6.4 rebounds per game. After missing the first eight games of the season due to recovering from surgery, Preseason Atlantic 10 First Team selection Libby Bazelak made her season-debut against La Salle and scored 11 points against GW in 32 minutes of play.
 
Duquesne is averaging 62.4 points per game and allowing 70.4.

UP NEXT
Mason wraps up its homestand with a pair of games next weekend against Fordham (Feb. 18) and Davidson (Feb. 20). Saturday's game will be Senior Night for the Patriots. Tip-off has been moved to 7 p.m. inside EBA.
