FAIRFAX, Va. – The George Mason women's basketball team continues its homestand against Norfolk State on Monday night. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. inside EagleBank Arena.
 
Monday's game will be broadcast nationally on ESPN+, featuring commentary from Bill Rohland and Steve Kolbe. In addition, Brian McSweeney will call the game on the GoMason Digital Network, with pre-game coverage beginning at 6:50 p.m.
 
PATRIOT POINTS
* Mason won its third straight game after defeating Florida on Wednesday (Dec. 1) at EagleBank Arena. The Patriots improved to 5-0 in games decided by five points or less.
 
* It marked Mason's second-ever win over an SEC opponent, and the first one since Dec. 30, 1996, when the Patriots defeated Auburn in overtime (56-55).
 
* Senior Amaya Scott led the Patriots and tied her career-high 25 points on 10-of-17 shooting (.588). She scored 15 of Mason's 29 first-half points, and added a team-high nine rebounds. It marked the sixth 20-spot of her career, and sixth straight game in double figures.
 
* Four players have finished in double figures in three consecutive games for the Patriots. Mason improved to 6-0 when three-or-more players score 10+ points.

* Junior Tamia Lawhorne added a season-best 19 points in the win, draining four three-pointers on seven attempts (.571). She ranks in the top-20 in the A-10 in both 3-point field goal percentage (4th, .393) and field goal percentage (16th, .413).
 
* Scott is averaging 20.3 points and 8.0 rebounds over the last four games, including a pair of 25-point performances. She's shooting 55.9 percent from the field in nearly 40 minutes of play. 
 
* Sophomore Taylor Jameson, the team's starting point guard, is averaging 13.3 points, 3.0 rebounds and 2.3 assists over the last four games while shooting 48.4 percent from the field. She ranks fifth in the A-10 in free throw percentage (.848), going 28-of-33 from the charity stripe.
 
* Mason has made 64 trips to the free throw line over the last two games, making 46 of its attempts (.718). The Patriots rank fifth in the nation in free throws made, going 139-of-193 from the line this season (.720).
 
* In the A-10, Scott ranks fourth in scoring (16.6), seventh in rebounding (7.7) and seventh in field goal percentage (.504). She's led the team in scoring in six games and rebounding in five.
 
* Junior Jordan Wakefield ranks 15th in the A-10 in scoring (12.7) and 23rd in rebounding (5.4). She's fourth in the league in free throw percentage (.865), making 32-of-37 attempts.
 
* Redshirt sophomore Jayla Adams has led the team in assists in seven games this season. She currently averaging 4.1 assists per game – good for fifth in the A-10.
 
* Mason's balanced scoring attack has three players averaging double figures: Scott (16.6), Wakefield (12.7) and Lawhorne (10.2).
 
* Scott is 80 points away from scoring 1,000 in her career.
 
SERIES HISTORY
Mason is 3-2 all-time against Norfolk State. The two teams last met on Nov. 21, 2016 with the Patriots winning 60-33 in Fairfax.
 
SCOUTING THE SPARTANS
Norfolk State (2-5) enters Monday's game on a five-game losing streak. The Spartans most recently fell to Hampton on Saturday, 56-52.

Deja Francis (10.7) and Camille Downs (10.1) lead the Spartans in scoring while Tatiana Jones (6.4) and Mahoganie Williams (5.7) control the boards. The Patriots will be familiar with Francis, who previously starred at St. Bonaventure for three seasons.

Norfolk State was predicted to finish third in the MEAC preseason poll while guard Armani Franklin was voted to the preseason All-MEAC Second Team.
 
UP NEXT
After taking a week off for finals, Mason will face its final non-conference road test on Saturday, Dec. 18 against Bucknell. Tip-off is scheduled for 5 p.m. in Lewisburg, Pa.
