FAIRFAX, Va. – The George Mason women's volleyball program will conclude its 2021 fall campaign this weekend at the Recreation Athletic Complex in Fairfax, Va.
Mason will host Davidson at 7 p.m. on Friday for Senior Night. The Patriots will honor their five seniors with a pre-match ceremony:
Peyton Ehmke,
Katie Parmalee,
Siron Hardy,
Erin Derick and
Marlanna Bozicevich.
The following night, Mason takes on rival VCU at 7 p.m. in its season finale. Both matches will be broadcast nationally on ESPN+.
PATRIOT POINTS
- Last time out, Mason fell to Dayton, 3-0, and Duquesne, 3-1, to move to 5-20 overall and 3-11 in the Atlantic 10.
- Freshman middle blocker Katarina Teahen made her Green & Gold debut vs. Duquesne. She played three sets, posting a kill, assist and block in the loss.
- Freshmen duo Olyvia Kennedy and Ewelina Gacek led the Patriots against the Dukes. Kennedy posted a team-high 13 kills to go along with 11 digs for her third double-double while Gacek tallied 12 kills with only five attacking errors on 37 attempts.
- Mason is 37-26 all-time against VCU. The Rams have won seven of the last eight meetings, including a four-set win earlier this season in Richmond (Oct. 1). Mason's lone victory during that stretch came on Nov. 3, 2018 when the Patriots swept the Rams.
- Davidson leads the all-time series, 7-4, and swept the Patriots on Oct. 3 in Davidson, N.C.
SUPER SENIORS
- Mason will honor its five seniors on Friday night: Peyton Ehmke, Katie Parmalee, Siron Hardy, Erin Derick and Marlanna Bozicevich.
- Ehmke, a middle blocker from San Clemente, Calif., has tallied 702 kills and 296 blocks in her storied career for the Patriots. A four-year starter, she earned A-10 All-Rookie honors as a freshman.
- Parmalee, a middle blocker from Tallahassee, Fla., has provided a lift to the Patriot attack over the last two seasons, averaging over 2.00 kills per set. She is also a staple of Mason's defense, recording 127 career blocks, including a team-best 63 this season.
- Bozicevich, a libero from San Marcos, Calif., has served as a key member of the defense, acting as primary libero this year. She has posted 673 digs, 79 assists and 50 service aces in her career. This season she ranks ninth in the A-10 in digs per set (2.94).
- Derick, a setter from Wilmington, Del., has guided the Patriot offense for the past three seasons. She has recorded 25 career double-doubles, 14 40-plus assist performances and 1,874 career assists. She ranks fourth in the A-10 in assists per set this season (8.45).
- Hardy, an outside hitter from the DMV, played two seasons for the Patriots before injury cut her career short. As a sophomore, she led the offense with 2.60 kills per set.
