The Patriots Host Duquesne on Senior Day

FAIRFAX, Va. – The George Mason women's soccer team (4-9, 2-3 A-10) play on Sunday, October 10th, facing off against Duquesne (4-5-2, 2-2-1 A-10). The Patriots will honor eight seniors prior to the start of the match.
 
Kickoff between the Patriots and the Dukes is set for 1 p.m. inside George Mason Stadium. The game will be broadcast on ESPN+. Fans can follow the action via live stats.
 
Mason is looking to continue to add another conference win to their record.
 
LAST TIME OUT
Possession of the ball was split evenly amongst the Patriots and the Flyers. Dayton tallied five goals on 14 total shots (10 on goal). Mason tallied one goal on 10 total shots (four on goal). Senior goalkeeper Louisa Moser recorded five saves in the loss.
 
Sophomore Katie Saunders (two on goal) and freshman Brianna Bitz  led the offensive effort for the Patriots, tallying two shots each in the match. two shots in the contest, one of which was on goal. Seniors Kolbrún Eyjólfsdóttir and Sara Chontosh, juniors Kaitlyn Butcher and Grace Hotaling, sophomore Eman Karimi, and freshman Lea Spittka all recorded one shot in the match.

HISTORY vs. THE DUKES
In the six contests between the two programs, Duquesne holds the edge over Mason, with a record of 5-1. The last time these two programs faced off was in the 2019 season where the Dukes defeated the Patriots 2-1 at Mason.

SCOUTING DUQUESNE
The Dukes have started their 2021 season holding a record of 4-5-2, with a 2-2-1 record in the conference. Dayton finished their 2020-21 season with a 3-5-1 overall record, 3-4-1 record in the conference.
 
Duquesne is led by Emma Bundy, Karley Steinher, and Hannah Nguyen. Bundy leads the Dukes with goals scored, tallying five goals on the season. The Dukes have scored 15 goals this season. Nguyen leads the team in assists, recording four so far this season. Steinher is second on the team with goals and assists, tallying three in both categories.
