DAVIDSON, N.C. - The George Mason women's volleyball team was swept by Davidson on Sunday afternoon at Belk Arena in Davidson, N.C.
The Patriots (2-13, 0-4 A-10) struggled offensively, hitting .091 in the match. Davidson finished with a .300 hitting percentage to improve to 8-7 overall and 4-1 in Atlantic 10 play.
Mason was led by freshman
Olyvia Kennedy who registered a team-high nine kills (.273). Senior
Peyton Ehmke added six kills on 15 attempts (.267).
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- The Wildcats scored four straight points to take a late 23-20 lead in the first set. Mason pulled within one (23-22), but then committed two errors to give Davidson the frame, 25-22.
- Davidson got out to a 10-0 start in the second stanza. Mason could not overcome the deficit, falling 25-13 in the frame. The Patriots hit -.152 in the set compared to the Wildcats' mark of .242.
- Mason tallied 10 kills and only one attacking error on 35 attempts (.257) in the third set. On the other side of the net, Davidson posted 17 kills and four attacking errors on 34 attempts (.382) to take the third set, 25-16.
- Davidson held the advantage in blocks (9-3), digs (50-40) and aces (6-3).
- Sophomore setter Grace Kristofic came off the bench for the Patriots, posting 13 assists and five digs in two sets played.
