Patriots Close Out Regular Season on the Road

FAIRFAX, Va. – The George Mason women's soccer team Mason (6-10-1, 4-4-1 A-10) play on Thursday, October 21st, facing off against Rhode Island (3-12-2, 1-7-1 A-10). This is the final regular season game for the Patriots in 2021.
 
Kickoff between the Patriots and the Rams is set for 1 p.m. inside John Coffey Field. The game will be broadcast on ESPN+. Fans can follow the action via live stats.
 
Mason is looking to continue to add another conference win to their record to ensure a spot in the Atlantic 10 championship tournament.
 
LAST TIME OUT
Possession of the ball was split evenly amongst the Patriots and the Rams. Rhode Island tallied two goals on 12 total shots (six on goal). Mason tallied three goals on 16 total shots (eight on goal). Senior Louisa Moser earns the win, recording four saves in the win.
 
Senior Sara Chontosh scored the game winning goal for the Patriots off an assist from fellow senior Emma Lee. This was Chontosh's fifth goal of the season, scoring the other two goals in the game. Emma Lee tallied two assists in tonight's match. Junior Grace Hotaling adds another assist for the season, tallying her seventh assist. Hotaling is currently second in the A-10 in assists. Chontosh is on the leader boards for both shots and shots on goal. The Patriot's earned season highs in tonight's match: points (9), goals (3), and assists (3). Chontosh's hat-trick earned her a spot in the record books for hat-tricks in a season.
 
Senior Sara Chontosh tallied six shots (four on goal) in the contest. Junior Grace Hotaling  recorded four shots (two on goal) in the match. Senior Emma Lee and freshman Brianna Bitz (one on goal) both tallied two shots in the match. Senior Shannon Lee (on goal) and sophomore Katie Saunders both recorded one shot each in the contest.

HISTORY vs. THE RAMS
In the six contests played between the two programs, Mason holds the edge over Fordham with a record of 3-1-2. The last time they faced each other was in the 2019 season where the Rams defeated the Patriots 2-1 inside Jack Coffey Field.

SCOUTING FORDHAM
The Rams have started their 2021 season holding a record of 3-12-2, with a 1-7-1 record in the conference. Fordham finished their 2020-21 season with a 4-3-1 overall record, 4-3 record in the conference.
 
Fordham is led by Caitlin Kennedy and Kendall Dandridge. Kennedy leads the Rams with goals scored, tallying five goals each so far this season. The Rams have scored 16 goals this season. Dandridge leads the team in assists, tallying three so far this season. Goalkeeper Maria O'Sullivan has recorded 15 saves in the five matches she has played this season, earning a 1.66 goals against average.
