FAIRFAX, Va. – The George Mason men's soccer team hosts Davidson on Saturday, Oct. 23, with the opening kickoff scheduled for 2 p.m. at George Mason Stadium in Fairfax, Va.
 
Last time out, the Patriots (2-11-1, 0-6-0 A-10) dropped their final road match of the season at George Washington in overtime, 2-1, on Wednesday at GW Soccer Field in Washington, D.C.
 
Mason sophomore forward Ishmail Kamara scored his first goal of the season in the 82nd minute to account for the Patriots lone tally of the match.  Freshman forward Darri Palsson picked up his second assist of the season on the play.
 
Sophomore midfielder Louis Lehr leads the team in goals (4), points (8), shots (26) and shots on goal (11). Freshman forward Balint Kocso is second on the club in goals (3), points (6), shots (20) and shots on goal (8).  The two have combined to score seven of the Patriots 10 goals this season.   
 
Graduate student forward Miles Montgomery and freshman midfielder Linus Dahl are tied for the team lead in assists (3).  Montgomery is second on the club in points (5), and is third in goals (1), shots (11) and shots on goal (6).
 
Sophomore goalkeeper Jackson Lee (2-11-1, 0-6-0 A-10, 1.73 GAA, 55 SV, 1245 MIN) has started all 14 matches for Mason, while sophomore goalkeeper William Schutze (0-1-0, 0-1-0 A-10, 2.16 GAA, 4 SV, 41 MIN) has made two appearances.
 
Mason and Davidson met twice during the shortened spring season. 
 
The two clubs played to a 2-2 double-overtime draw on March 14 in Davidson, N.C. 
 
The Wildcats defeated the Patriots, 3-0, on March 27 at George Mason Stadium.  Davidson scored in the fourth minute and twice in the second half, while goalkeeper Giacomo Piccardo made eight saves to earn the victory.
 
The Patriots outshot the Wildcats, 18-10, including an 8-6 advantage in shots on goal.  Mason had eight corner kicks, while Davidson had three corner kicks in the game.

ABOUT THE PATRIOTS
 
The Patriots have 12 returners and 19 newcomers on the roster under second-year head coach Elmar Bolowich.
 
Returning for the Patriots are senior defender Jakob Rylander, along with junior forward Kent Harrison and defender Jonathan Fawole.  Mason has nine sophomores on the roster with goalkeeper Jackson Lee, defender Noah McGrath, midfielders Daniel Chica, Evan Pedraza, Christopher Schray and Henry Wachsman, and forwards Nicolas Alt, Ishmail Kamara and Louis Lehr.
 
The newcomers include 14 freshmen.  Forwards Balint Kocso, Ryan Mahon and Darri Palsson, and midfielders Jose Alvarado, Luciano Covella, Linus Dahl and Michael Medina.
 
Rookie defenders Jaden Berman, Valentin Brandis, Marcel Cole, Ahmed Mohamed and Josh Morrobel will join the back line in front of freshmen goalkeepers Matthew Bauer and Jake Lee.  
 
The Patriots added graduate student defender Kennedy Davis and forward Miles Montgomery, in addition to junior midfielder Cameron Revels, sophomore goalkeeper William Schutze and sophomore midfielder Mike Oropeza.
 
Mason played two games in August, seven games in September, and close out the season with seven matches in October. 
 
The eight-game Atlantic 10 schedule includes road contests against Saint Joseph's (Sept. 17), Saint Louis (Sept. 25), Fordham (Oct. 9) and George Washington (Oct. 20).  The Patriots will host St. Bonaventure (Oct. 6), VCU (Oct. 16), Davidson (Oct. 23) and La Salle (Oct. 30) in A-10 play.
 
Admission is free for all Patriots' men's soccer home games played at George Mason Stadium.
 
SCOUTING DAVIDSON
 
The Wildcats have an overall record of 7-5-2, including a mark of 2-2-2 against Atlantic 10 Conference opponents.  Davidson is 3-3-2 at home and 4-2-0 on the road.
 
The Wildcats are eighth in the Atlantic 10 Conference standings with eight points.
 
Last time out, Davidson and Dayton picked up a point, playing to a 2-2 double-overtime draw on Wednesday at Alumni Soccer Stadium.
 
Senior forward Lucas Hauth and sophomore midfielder Connor Smith scored goals for the Wildcats.  Davidson finished with a 17-16 edge in shots.
 
Freshman forward Vincent Bennage leads the club and is fourth in the Atlantic 10 in goals (6).  He leads the team in shots on goal (18), and is second in both points (12) and shots (31).  Bennage's 18 shots on goal rank eighth in the conference.
 
Smith is second on the team in goals (5) and third in points (10), shots (19) and shots on goal (11).
 
Senior midfielder Henry Howell and Hauth are tied for third on the club in goals (4).  Howell is tied for fifth in the league in assists (5) and paces the Wildcats in shots (37) and shots on goal (17).
       
Junior goalkeeper Giacomo Piccardo (4-3-2, 1.75 GAA, 39 SV, 1030 MIN) has played 11 games, while junior Michael Zemanek (1-2-0, 2.67, 17 SV, 270 MIN) has played three games.
 
Davidson ranks tied for fifth in the Atlantic 10 with Dayton in goals scored (24).
 
CORNER KICK
 
Mason and Davidson have met once in Atlantic 10 Tournament play, with the Patriots earning a 4-2 victory on penalty kicks in the first round on Nov. 13, 2014 in Richmond, Va.
 
The game was scoreless, 0-0, after double overtime.
 
Mason goalkeeper Michael Butts allowed Davidson to score on just two of its four penalty kicks, while Jannik Eckenrode, Daniel Hoffman, Conlan Kemmerer and Timi Mulgrew converted for the Patriots.
