FAIRFAX, Va. – The George Mason men's soccer team defeated Radford, 3-2, in the final non-conference match of the season on Saturday afternoon at George Mason Stadium in Fairfax, Va.

Miles Montgomery each found the back of the net for the Patriots. Montgomery's first goal as a Patriot proved to be the gamewinner.

Mason (2-7-1, 0-2-0 A-10) took the lead over Radford (2-6-0, 0-1-0 Big South) midway through the first half.Â

In the 26th minute, freshman forward
Darri Palsson sent a cross into the box from the right side, where Lehr converted with a header from inside the six to put the Patriots in front 1-0.

Lehr's goal was his team-leading third of the season, while Palsson picked up his first collegiate assist on the play.

Early in the second half, Highlanders junior midfielder Juan Benavides was fouled in the penalty area in the 61st minute. He converted the penalty kick with a right foot into the lower left corner past Mason sophomore goalkeeper
Jackson Lee to make it a 1-1 game.

The Patriots reclaimed the lead in the 75th minute on a set piece.

Linus Dahl played a perfect corner kick into the box, with Kocso elevating to score with a header into the upper left corner of the net to make the score 2-1.

Less than eight minutes later, Montgomery was fouled in the penalty area. He blistered a shot with the right foot into the lower left corner of the net for his first goal as a Patriot on the penalty kick to increase the advantage to 3-1.

Radford was awarded a second penalty kick in the 89th minute, with Benavides scoring his second goal of the match to account for the 3-2 final.

Lee (2-7-1, 0-2-0 A-10) made two saves to earn the victory, while Radford junior goalkeeper Joseba Incera (1-5-0) made six saves in the match.Â
