Box Score WASHINGTON, D.C. – The George Mason women's volleyball team split its season series against George Washington on Saturday in Washington, D.C.
The Patriots fell in four sets to the Colonials to drop to 1-7 in the Atlantic 10.
Mason was led by freshmen duo
Olyvia Kennedy and
Ewelina Gacek. Kennedy posted 16 kills at a .257 clip while Gacek registered a career-best 16 kills to go along with six digs.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Mason scored six straight points to lead by eight in the first set (13-5). The Patriots hit .405 with 17 kills on 14 assists to win the first stanza, 25-17.
- The Patriots hit .029 and .098 in the second and third sets, respectively. GW took the two sets by a score of 25-18 and 25-22.
- In a back-and-forth fourth set, the Colonials came out victorious in extra points, 28-26.
- The Colonials outblocked the Patriots 13 to four.
- Mason registered 62 digs behind a 17-dig effort from senior libero Marlanna Bozicevich.
- The Patriots registered seven service aces, including four from Bozicevich.
- GW hit at a clip of .257 compared to Mason's mark of .173.
