Patriots Travel to Davidson for Thursday's Contest

FAIRFAX, Va. – The George Mason women's soccer team (5-9, 3-3 A-10) play on Thursday, October 14th, facing off against Davidson (4-8-2, 0-5-1 A-10).
 
Kickoff between the Patriots and the Wildcats is set for 7 p.m. inside Alumni Soccer Stadium. The game will be broadcast on ESPN+. Fans can follow the action via live stats.
 
Mason is looking to continue to add another conference win to their record.
 
LAST TIME OUT
Possession of the ball was split evenly amongst the Patriots and the Dukes. Duquesne tallied 14 total shots (nine on goal). Mason tallied two goals on 18 total shots (eight on goal). Senior Louisa Moser earns the win, tallying her second shutout of the season.
 
Senior Sara Chontosh scored the game winning goal for the Patriots off an assist from junior Grace Hotaling . This was Chontosh's first goal of the season. Hotaling adds another assist for the season, tallying her sixth assist. Hotaling leads the A-10 in assists. Senior Sara Chontosh scores her second goal of the season just a few moments later, this time unassisted. These goals tie the season high of two goals scored in a match.
 
Seniors Sara Chontosh tallied six shots (four on goal) in the contest. Junior Grace Hotaling (two on goal), sophomore Jule Kleymann (one on goal), and freshman Hailey Martinez (one on goal) each recorded two shots in the match. Seniors Naja Ashman , Sophie Karas and Shannon Lee, freshmen Brianna BitzLea Spittka, and  Halla Svansdóttir (one on goal) all tallied one shot in the match.

HISTORY vs. THE WILDCATS
In the seven contests between the two programs, Mason holds the edge over Davidson, with a record of 5-2. Mason has lost the last two matchups against the Wildcats, both in the 2020-21 season.

SCOUTING DAVIDSON
The Wildcats have started their 2021 season holding a record of 4-8-2, with a 0-5-1 record in the conference. Davidson finished their 2020-21 season with a 7-4-3 overall record, 4-2-2 record in the conference.
 
Davidson is led by Aleia Gisolfi-McCready, Emma Nquyen, and Riley Patton. Gisolfi-McCready, Nguyen, and Patton lead the Wildcats with goals scored, all tallying two goals each on the season. The Wildcats have scored 10 goals this season. Gisolfi-McCready has also recorded an assist this season, leading the team in points. Goalkeeper Mary Grace Bunch has recorded 36 saves this season and holds a 0.88 goals against average.
