EDINBORO, Pa. – For the third straight season, the George Mason Patriots and the Edinboro Fighting Scots' match was decided by three points or less. The Patriots had won two straight matches against Edinboro, but in its home opener today, the Scots defeated the Patriots 22-20 in a Mid-American Conference match. 

The competition featured a dual match in addition to round robin matches after the conclusion of the dual match.
 
Mason sophomore Josh Jones opened the dual with a technical fall against Lucas Rodrieguez to give the Patriots the early 5-0 lead. The Fighting Scots responded with three straight wins to take a 14-8 lead. 
 
Patriots' freshman Daniel Segura earned a decision at 157 pounds. Avenging a loss from last season at 165 pounds, Mason's Neil Schuster earned a fall against Derek Ciavarro to even the match at 14-14.
 
The two teams would split the final two matches, but the Fighting Scots earned a major decision in the final match to edge the Patriots.
 
Junior Paul Pierce defeated nationally-ranked Jacob Oliver in a 5-3 decision during round robin competition. 
 
The Patriots travel to the Naval Academy this Friday for a dual match with the Midshipmen.
