Game Recap: Men's Volleyball |
FAIRFAX, Va. – The George Mason men's volleyball team (2-1) won in straight-sets (25-17, 30-28, 25-19) against Southern Virginia (0-1) on Friday night inside the Recreation and Athletic Complex (RAC).

The Patriots had control for the majority of the match, besting the Knights in kills (45-36), attacking percentage (.427-.250), serving percentage (.810 - .754), digs (24-20) and total blocks (6-4). The Knights battled in the second set as both teams forced six set points before Mason won the set thanks to a solo block from senior Hayden Wagner.

Mason was led by Wagner, who the Patriots had not seen on the floor in over a year (last appearance: Jan. 10 vs. Southern California). The opposite collected a team best 13 kills on 20 attempts, including a game-high two service aces.

"A good win against a good Southern Virginia team," head coach Jay Hosack said. "They are well-coached, they played hard and definitely pushed us tonight. I was glad to see some young guys get some playing time and it was good to have Hayden Wagner back on the court. Letting him [Wagner] get back into the swing of things was good. We are excited that we are playing well and excited for a good match tomorrow night against Barton."
