FAIRFAX, Va. – The George Mason women's volleyball team will play a trio of matches this weekend, including its home opener at 1 p.m. on Saturday inside the RAC.
The weekend begins with a 4 p.m. match at Howard on Friday in Washington, D.C. The Patriots then return home to host Coppin State on Saturday (1 p.m.), followed by a road contest at VCU on Sunday (Noon).
Saturday's match vs. Coppin State will be broadcast nationally on ESPN+.
LAST TIME OUT
Mason (0-2) dropped a pair of matches to begin its spring campaign. The Patriots were swept by Old Dominion on Friday and suffered a five-set loss to Norfolk State on Sunday.
The Patriots were led by junior libero
Marlanna Bozicevich. She tallied 43 total digs – good for 5.38 digs per set. She registered a career-high 27 digs in Mason's loss to Norfolk State.
In addition, sophomore
Christina Walker made an impact in her first career match for the Green & Gold. She finished with seven kills on a .353 hitting percentage against Norfolk State.
Freshman
Katelyn Clarke impressed as part of Mason's offensive attack. The outside hitter tabbed 17 kills, 21 digs and four service aces over the two matches. She posted her first career double-double against Norfolk State with 11 kills and 13 digs.
ATLANTIC 10 PLAY APPROACHING
The Patriots will play a 10-match A-10 schedule beginning on Saturday, Feb. 6. Mason will play five home and five road contests during the regular season, scheduled to conclude on Friday, March 26.
The Patriots will face George Washington, Rhode Island, La Salle and Fordham in the A-10's East Regional Pod. The 2020-21 Atlantic 10 Championship will be held April 2-3 at the league's top seed.
2020-21 PROSPECTUS
Mason returns 10 letterwinners and five players that started at least 10 matches in 2019. The Patriots' squad consists of five upperclassmen and nine underclassmen. Junior middle blocker
Peyton Ehmke is back for the Patriots after leading the team in blocks (93) and blocks per set (.99). Junior setter
Erin Derick registered a team-high 7.49 assists per set last season – good for sixth in the Atlantic 10.
In addition, Mason welcomes four newcomers to the 2020-21 roster. That group includes outside

Grace Kristofic (Gibsonia, Pa.), middle blocker
Brianna Jackson (Port Saint Lucie, Fla.) and opposite
Taylor Terry (Cape Charles, Va.).

The RAC Gym will have a capacity of 30 spectators, limited to student-athlete and staff guests as well as Mason students. Tickets will not be available to the public. Mason's home opener is scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 30 against Coppin State. First serve is slated for 1 p.m. inside the RAC.
