Jack Reese Named EIVA Defensive Player of the Week

FAIRFAX, Va. – George Mason men's volleyball student-athlete Jack Reese has been named EIVA's Defensive Player of the Week, the conference announced Monday afternoon. This is Reese's fifth career EIVA DPOTW selection, as he earned the award once in 2020, twice in 2019 and once more in 2018.

The redshirt senior was a force at the net for the Patriots in their opening weekend series against Ball State, recording 14 total blocks (five solo blocks) in nine sets.

In the first contest of 2021, Reese tallied seven total blocks (two solo) in a five-set victory (Jan. 22). In the second match, the middle blocker earned seven total blocks (three solo) (Jan. 23).

The Pittsburgh native performed on the offensive side for the Patriots as well, as Reese hit 18-6-31 (.387) with 11 of those kills coming on 17 attempts (.529) on Friday in a Mason victory.

Reese and the Patriots return to the Recreation and Athletic Complex (RAC) this coming weekend to host Southern Virginia on Friday, Jan. 29, and Barton on Saturday, Jan. 30. First serve for both contests is slated for 7 p.m. ET inside the RAC.
