FAIRFAX, Va. – The George Mason University women's basketball team wraps up its road trip on Sunday against Davidson. Tip-off is scheduled for 1 p.m. inside Belk Arena.
Sunday's game will be broadcast nationally on ESPN+. In addition, Brian McSweeney will call the game on the GoMason Digital Network, with pre-game coverage beginning at 12:50 p.m.
PATRIOT POINTS
* Mason opens conference play against five teams ranked in the top four of the A-10 Preseason Poll: Fordham (T-4th), Davidson (T-4th), Dayton (2nd), Saint Louis (3rd) and VCU (1st).
* The Patriots were handed a 62-32 loss by Fordham in its A-10 opener to move to 3-5 overall and 0-1 in league play. It marked Mason's fewest points in a game since scoring 32 in a loss to Bridgewater on Jan. 31, 1976.
* Mason shot 21.1 percent from the field (12-57) and 26.7 percent from behind-the-arc (4-15). The Patriots were also outrebounded, 45-28, and outscored in second-chance points, 17-8.
* Senior
Marika Korpinen posted her sixth double-digit scoring performance of the season with 10 points. She added five rebounds in the loss. She is averaging 11.3 points, 6.4 rebounds and 3.9 assists this season.
* Redshirt freshman
Rachel Balzer was named Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week after scoring a career-high 16 points against Delaware State, draining a personal-best four three-pointers (.666). It was Mason's first A-10 Rookie of the Week nod since Feb. 26, 2018.
* Mason wrapped up non-conference play with a commanding 69-46 win over Delaware State on Dec. 21 inside EagleBank Arena.
* Mason is outscoring its opponents 165-122 in the fourth quarter (+43) while shooting 39.7 percent from the floor (48-121). Mason has outscored seven of its eight opponents in the fourth quarter this season.
* Six different Patriots have led the team in scoring this season - Korpinen (3), Jefferson (2), Wilson, Wakefield, Doster and Balzer.
* In wins, the Patriots are shooting 36.9 percent from the floor (69-187) and 31.8 percent from behind-the-arc (21-66). Conversely, in losses, Mason is shooting 25.8 percent from the floor (76-295) and just 22.4 from 3-point range (24-107).
* Mason currently boasts a free throw percentage of .721. They rank first in the A-10 in FT made (119) and FT attempts (165).

Taylor Jameson is an impressive 14-of-16 from the charity stripe (.875) - good for sixth in the A-10.
Devyn Wilson ranks ninth in the league in FT percentage, converting 19-of-24 free throw attempts (.792) while
Daijah Jefferson leads the A-10 in FT made (26) and FT attempts (35).
* The Patriots continue to be efficient on the boards, ranking second in the A-10 in offensive rebounds per game (15.5) and rebounds per game (42.0). The Patriots are averaging 51.0 rebounds in their three wins but just 36.6 boards in their five losses.
* The Patriots have two players in the top-15 in the A-10 in rebounding: Jefferson (5th, 8.4) and Doster (14th, 7.1).
SERIES HISTORY
Davidson has won the last two meetings to lead the all-time series, 4-3. Last season, the Wildcats defeated Mason 76-69 on Jan. 15, 2020 in Fairfax. It was a career day for
Marika Korpinen as she scored a personal-best 20 points. She notched career highs in field goals made (6) and three-point field goals made (4), while also going 4-of-5 from the free throw line.
Prior to last season's matchup, the home team claimed the victory in each meeting.
SCOUTING DAVIDSON
Davidson is 5-3 to begin the year and won its first two A-10 matchups against Fordham (79-64) and George Washington (66-62). The Wildcats are on a five-game winning streak. Chloe Welch leads the team with 18.9 points per game – good for sixth in the A-10.
Suzi-Rose Deegan, the 2019-20 A-10 Rookie of the Year, is also back for the Wildcats. She was recently named A-10 Player of the Week for games played from Dec. 21-27. It marked the eighth A-10 weekly honor of her career, after she named the conference's Rookie of the Week seven times during her freshmen season.
Davidson, along Fordham and Duquesne, tied for fourth in the A-10 Preseason Poll with 140 points. The Wildcats were 16-15 overall and 8-8 in league play last year. Three Davidson players, Suzi-Rose Deegan, Katie Turner and Sarah Donovan, were selected for preseason all-conference.
