FAIRFAX, Va. – The George Mason women's basketball team returns to EagleBank Arena to host Revolutionary Rival George Washington on Sunday. Tip-off in Fairfax is scheduled for noon.  
  
Sunday's game will be broadcast nationally on ESPN+, with commentary by Steve Kolbe. In addition, Brian McSweeney will call the game on the GoMason Digital Network, with pre-game coverage beginning at 11:50 a.m.  
  
PATRIOT POINTS  
* The Patriots (3-7, 0-4 A-10) will look to snap a four-game losing streak on Sunday and secure their first conference win. 
 
* Graduate student Daijah Jefferson finished with a game-high 11 points in Mason's 60-41 loss to VCU on Wednesday night in Richmond.  
 
* Mason won the rebounding battle 39-35 and grabbed 15 offensive rebounds, which it turned into nine second-chance points. The Patriots, however, struggled with turnovers, committing 17 miscues. VCU scored 21 points off turnovers. 
 
* Mason made seven three-pointers vs. the Rams (.318). Redshirt freshman Rachel Balzer went 3-for-7 from behind-the-arc (.429) for nine points.   
  
* Senior Marika Korpinen has scored in double figures eight times in 2020-21 and 25 times in her career. In the A-10, Korpinen ranks 16th in scoring (11.7), 24th in rebounding (5.7) and 13th in assists (2.8).  
  
* Korpinen, whose previous career high was 20 points against Davidson a season ago, scored a career-high 21 points with a personal-best seven field goals vs. Davidson on Jan. 3.  
  
* Jefferson has registered four double-digit rebounding performances this season and is averaging 9.0 points and a team-high 7.6 rebounds per game. 
  
* Sophomore Jordan Wakefield has scored in double figures in five games this season, including a 10-point outing vs. Dayton. She is third on the team in scoring (7.6).  
   
* Mason is outscoring its opponents 203-160 in the fourth quarter (+43) while shooting 36.3 percent from the floor (61-168). Mason has outscored nine of its 11 opponents in the fourth quarter this season, including VCU on Wednesday night (10-8). 
  
* In wins, the Patriots are shooting 36.9 percent from the floor (69-187) and 31.8 percent from behind-the-arc (21-66). Conversely, in losses, Mason is shooting 27.5 percent from the floor (123-448) and just 25.0 from 3-point range (41-164).    
  
* Mason currently boasts a free throw percentage of .704 - good for fifth in the A-10. They rank second in the A-10 in FT made (143) and FT attempts (203). Korpinen is second in the A-10 in FT made (35) and FT attempts (46) and 13th in free throw percentage (.761).  
  
* The Patriots continue to be efficient on the boards, ranking second in the A-10 in offensive rebounds per game (14.9) and fourth in rebounds per game (40.1).   
  
* The Patriots have three players in the top-25 in the A-10 in rebounding: Jefferson (11th, 7.6), Doster (15th, 6.7) and Korpinen (24th, 5.7). Jefferson has tallied the third-most rebounds in the A-10 with 84 boards.  
  
* Korpinen is 21st in program history in three-point field goals made with 74.  
  
* Six different Patriots have led the team in scoring this season - Korpinen (5), Jefferson (3), Wilson, Wakefield, Doster and Balzer. The Patriots have five players averaging at least 5.0 points per game.  
  
* Mason wrapped up a challenging start to A-10 play which featured four games against the top four teams in the A-10 Preseason Poll: Fordham (T-4th), Davidson (T-4th), Dayton (2nd) and VCU (1st). Those four teams have a combined A-10 record of 15-5 thus far.  
 
SERIES HISTORY
George Washington leads the all-time series, 25-13. GW snapped a three-game losing streak to the Patriots with a 62-57 victory last season on Feb. 15, 2020 in Washington, D.C. In the loss, senior Marika Korpinen scored 18 points, tying her career high in three-pointers made (4).

In the first meeting of the 2019-20 season, Mason earned a 70-60 victory over GW on Jan. 4, 2020 inside EagleBank Arena. Sophomore Tamia Lawhorne ignited for a personal-best 22 points (8-16 FG, 3-5 3FG). She scored 15 points in the third quarter alone, including 11 straight during a 20-0 run by the Patriots.

SCOUTING GW
George Washington (3-7) is 0-4 to start Atlantic 10 play and recently fell to Richmond (47-42) on Wednesday night. 

George Washington was picked to finish ninth in the Atlantic 10 preseason poll. George Washington is led by Preseason All-Conference Third Team selection Neila Luma, who leads the team in scoring (10.9 ppg) and rebounding (6.5 rpg). Freshman Ali Brigham adds 10.1 points per game and shoots 46.4 percent from the floor while graduate student Jasmine Whitney leads the league in steals per game (3.0) – good for 24th nationally.
