Editor's Note: GoMason.com will be profiling the George Mason University women's volleyball freshman class. This week, we have opposite Taylor Terry.
Freshman
Taylor Terry, a native of Cape Charles, Va., earned varsity letters in volleyball, basketball, track and softball at Peninsula Catholic High School. She was named First Team All-Conference and All-State in volleyball while leading her team to a state championship in 2018.
When did you first start playing volleyball?
I started playing volleyball in the seventh grade for my middle school team.
What is your favorite volleyball memory?
My favorite volleyball memory is winning a state championship with my best friends right before they graduated. It was the best feeling ever.
What is your favorite thing about being a volleyball player?
Knowing that my volleyball team is like my family and that if I ever need anything, they have my back.
Why did you choose to continue your athletic and academic career at George Mason?
I was always interested in Mason but once I arrived on campus and saw how much the team got along and how the coaches had everyone's backs, I knew that it was going to be the right place. It definitely felt like a family right when I got to know everyone.
Who are your role models?
Outside of volleyball, my biggest role model is my mom. She pushes me to be the best person I can be every day. She is the hardest worker I know.
What is your favorite spot on campus?
Presidents Park is my favorite spot on campus because it is very homey to me. It looks nice and cozy and gives off good vibes.
What is your major and why did you choose it?
My major is criminology. I chose it because hopefully I will end up being a domestic attorney. I want to stand up for kids when they can't stand up for themselves in bad situations.
When I'm not playing volleyball, my favorite thing to do is?
I love going to the beach, being on a boat, and anything outdoors. Downtime is nice too, but I live by the beach so I've grown up having beach days my whole life.
My favorite book, movie, TV show or podcast is?
My favorite TV show is "The Office" because it is funny.
Any pre-match rituals?
Must eat sour skittles.
Something I want #MasonNation to know about me is…
I am super excited to see what the team can do this year! I'm excited to be on campus and experience new things with new people!
