FAIRFAX, Va. – George Mason women's basketball head coach Nyla Milleson has announced that Nicole Cardaño-Hillary will not return to the team for the 2020-21 season. Cardaño-Hillary has asked Coach Milleson for and has been granted a release and is eligible to transfer to another program.

"Nikki has been an integral part of our program the last three years," said Coach Milleson. "She has been a great representative of our program and a pleasure to coach. We wish her the best as she moves forward to finish her career."

Cardaño-Hillary, Mason's all-time leading scorer, finishes her career for the Green & Gold with 1,766 points. She broke the program scoring record against Saint Louis in the first round of the Atlantic 10 Championships on March 3, 2020.

The 2018-19 Atlantic 10 Player of the Year was second in the league in scoring (18.3) and first in steals per game (2.2) this season. She ranks fourth in three-point field goals made (159), fifth in steals (216) and 10th in assists (292) in program history.

"I want to thank the George Mason community and Coach Milleson for the opportunity to be a part of this program," said Cardaño-Hillary. "I love all my teammates and have loved playing with them. This is a new opportunity that I very much look forward to, and owe so much of that to the experience I've had at George Mason."
