CHARLESTON, W.Va. – The George Mason men's volleyball team (5-4, 1-0) defeated EIVA foe Charleston (W.Va.) in straight sets (25-18, 25-20, 25-21) on Friday night at Wehrle Innovation Center.
"Our boys went into a hostile environment, during conference play, and responded," head coach Jay Hosack said. "I liked our response to everything they threw at us. It's a good win to start EIVA conference play."
Bradley Creamer led the Patriots with a match high 10 kills and tied a match high in service aces (2) to go along with three digs. Zach Talamoa had a big night for the Patriots, earning eight digs and two serving aces while Trevor Kennan led the match with 10 digs and two assists.
Richie Hoff and Bryce Gatling both earned seven kills apiece.
The Patriots defended their perfect record against the Golden Eagles, improving their all-time head-to-head record to 10-0.
As a team, the Patriots recorded a total of seven service aces on the night (season best). Mason earned an attacking percentage of .342 while holding the Golden Eagles to an attacking percentage of just .257.
