Patriots Begin EIVA Play on the Road Friday

Charleston, W.Va. - The 11th ranked George Mason men's volleyball team (4-4,0-0) travels to West Virginia to play University of Charleston (W.Va.) (1-8, 0-2) on Friday (7 p.m.) and Tusculum (2-7, 1-1) on Saturday (3 p.m.) at the
Wehrle Innovation Center.


The Patriots will return home for a four-game home stand following the quick road trip west.


SCOUTING CHARLESTON (1-8, 0-2)
The Golden Eagles have started the 2020 campaign with an overall record of 1-8, including two conference losses, with their lone win coming against Erskine College on Jan. 17. The Golden Eagles have already played two EIVA conference contests this season, both against defending EIVA champion Princeton. The Tigers defeated the Golden Eagles in straight sets in consecutive days.

Charleston is led by sophomore Lachlan Bray who leads the Golden Eagles with 77 kills (2.75 kills per set), 3.18 points per set and 10 service aces.

The Patriots have not lost to the Golden Eagles, holding an all-time record of 9-0 against Charleston losing only one set in the nine contests versus Charleston.

SCOUTING TUSCULUM (2-7, 1-1)
Tusculum enters the weekend losing seven of their last eight. They dropped contests against Lindenwood and McKendree in straight sets.
 
Freshman Matteo Miselli leads the Pioneers in kills (75), digs (32), service aces (14) and points per set (3.5).
 
This will be the first meeting between the Patriots and the Pioneers, as Mason will play its lone non-conference road contest against the Pioneers on Saturday.
