FAIRFAX, Va. – The George Mason women's basketball team welcomes Massachusetts to EagleBank Arena on Wednesday for Sue Collins National Girls & Women in Sports Day.
 
Tip-off between the Patriots and Minutewomen is scheduled for 7 p.m. Wednesday's game will be broadcast nationally on ESPN+, with commentary by Steve Kolbe. In addition, Shawn Ouellette will call the game on the GoMason Digital Network, with pre-game coverage beginning at 6:50 p.m.
 
PATRIOT POINTS
* Mason looks to snap an eight-game losing streak on Wednesday, when the Patriots host UMass at 7 p.m. for Sue Collins National Girls and Women in Sports Day. 
 
* Down two with 24 seconds remaining (42-40), Mason's final field goal attempts fell short as the Patriots suffered a 47-42 road loss to Rhode Island (11-9, 4-4 A-10) on Saturday.
 
* The Patriots finished with a 25.8 percent (17-66) mark from the floor, 8.0 percent (2-25) mark from three-point range and scored a season-low 42 points.
 
* Junior Nicole Cardaño-Hillary registered her first career double-double with 16 points and a career-high 10 rebounds. It marked the 19th time the guard has scored in double figures this season.
 
* Senior Jacy Bolton notched a near double-double with 10 points and nine rebounds. She was the only Patriot to make a three-point field goal, finishing with two in the contest.
 
* With a team-high 16 points vs. Rhode Island, Cardaño-Hillary became just the fifth player in program history to surpass 1,600 points in their career. She's 32 points shy of a fourth-place tie with Jen Derevjanik (2000-04) with 1,637 career points.
 
* Cardaño-Hillary is second in the Atlantic 10 in scoring (17.6 ppg). Forward Camarie Gatling is third in the A-10 in field goal percentage (.510) and is third on the team in scoring, averaging 8.9 points per game. Bolton is ninth in the A-10 with 6.6 rebounds per game.
 
* Cardaño-Hillary is the only player in program history to rank in the top-5 all-time in scoring (1,605), 3-pt field goals made (144) and steals (197).
 
* Bolton surpassed 600 career rebounds with six boards against Bradley (Nov. 29). She now sits eighth all-time with 695 rebounds. She's 32 rebounds shy of a seventh-place tie with Jerolyn Weathersby (1987-91) with 727.
 
* The Patriots boast a 5-1 record when scoring 70+ points in a contest.  In wins, they are averaging 70.6 points while allowing just 60.3 points a game. Conversely, in losses, they are averaging just 57.5 points while surrendering 69.5 a game.
 
* Cardaño-Hillary has scored in double figures in 19-of-22 games this season and posted 20+ points in seven games. She has scored 30+ points in her career five times - the fifth most in school history.
 
* The Patriots continue to be efficient on the offensive glass, ranking first in the A-10 in offensive rebounds per game (14.9). In A-10 games only, the Patriots are second in offensive rebounds per game (14.1), +32 in total offensive rebounds (127-95), and +10 in total rebounds (342-332).
 
SUE COLLINS NATIONAL GIRLS & WOMEN IN SPORTS DAY
The Patriots are celebrating Sue Collins National Girls & Women in Sports Day (NGWSD) by honoring basketball alum Keri (Chaconas) Holm ('96). Chaconas is the all-time leading scorer (1,747 points) in program history. She scored 51 points against East Carolina, a record that hasn't been broken in 25 years. The Northern, Va. native earned many accolades, including first-team All-Conference (CAA) honors twice and earned Academic All-American Honors in 1996. Chaconas became the first player in Mason history to play in the WNBA, playing for the Washington Mystics.
 
SERIES HISTORY
The Patriots hold an 8-2 advantage in the all-time series with UMass. Mason had won four straight prior to dropping a 86-80 double-overtime decision to the Minutewomen in the first round of the 2019 A-10 Championship.
 
SCOUTING UMASS
UMass overcame a 13-point deficit in the third quarter to earn a 70-62 victory over Davidson on Sunday. Massachusetts (16-6) has matched its overall win total from a year ago while also improving to 6-3 in the Atlantic 10. 
 
Junior Sam Breen leads UMass averaging 17.2 points and 8.5 rebounds per game. She was named Atlantic 10 Player of the Week on Monday after averaging 26 points and 9.5 rebounds per game during a 2-0 week for Massachusetts. 

Senior Hailey Leidel averages 17.0 points per game. The captain is third on the Minutewomen's career all-time scoring list and is the only player in program history to record 1,700 point, 600 rebounds and 200 assists in a career at UMass.
 
The Minutewomen currently sit fourth in Atlantic 10 standings, behind Dayton (8-0), VCU (7-1) and Davidson (6-2).
