FAIRFAX, Va. – The George Mason women's basketball team will play its final road test of the regular season on Wednesday, taking on VCU at 6 p.m. inside the Siegel Center.
Wednesday's game will be broadcast nationally on ESPN+. In addition, Shawn Ouellette will call the game on the GoMason Digital Network, with pre-game coverage beginning at 5:50 p.m.
PATRIOT POINTS
* Mason snapped a three-game losing streak with a 54-49 win over Saint Joseph's on Saturday. It marked the Patriots' first A-10 road win of the season.
* The Patriots tied their season-high in three-point field goal percentage, finishing with a 57.1 percent (8-14) mark. Junior Nicole Cardaño-Hillary matched her season high in three-point field goals made, going 4-of-7 from deep (.571).
* With the victory over Saint Joseph's, head coach
Nyla Milleson earned her 200th Division I win. She's now five wins away from 100 victories at Mason.
* Cardaño-Hillary posted team-highs in points (18), rebounds (7), steals (4) and assists (3). She has scored in double figures in 24-of-27 games this season and posted 20+ points in nine games.
* Senior
Jacy Bolton scored 12 points of 5-of-8 shooting (.625). She's averaging 11.0 points, 7.5 rebounds and 3.0 assists over the last two games while shooting 44.4 percent (8-18) from the floor and 57.1 percent from deep (4-7).
* Cardaño-Hillary moved into second on Mason's all-time scoring list with 1,705 career points, passing Taylor Brown (2013-16). She is now 42 points shy of a first-place tie with Keri Chaconas (1992-96) with 1,747 points.
* Four of Mason's last six games have been decided by five points. The Patriots are 1-3 in those games, and 2-5 overall in games decided by five points or less.
* Mason is 8-0 when leading with 5:00 minutes remaining in a contest. The Patriots also improved to 6-2 when leading at the half.
* Cardaño-Hillary is second in the Atlantic 10 in scoring (18.0 ppg) and first in steals per game (2.2).
* Bolton is ninth in the A-10 with 6.4 rebounds per game, and second on the team in points per game (9.1).
* Cardaño-Hillary is the only player in program history to rank in the top-5 all-time in scoring (1,705), 3-pt field goals made (152) and steals (211).
* Bolton sits eighth on Mason's all-time rebounding list with 722 boards. She's five rebounds shy of a seventh-place tie with Jerolyn Weathersby (1987-91) with 727.
* Mason ranks first in the A-10 in offensive rebounds per game (14.7). In A-10 games only, the Patriots are first in offensive rebounds per game (14.0) and are +38 in total offensive rebounds (196-158).
SERIES HISTORY
One of Mason's most frequent opponents, the teams have met 64 times, with the series tied at 32-32. VCU has won the last two meetings, including an 82-63 victory on Jan. 25 inside EagleBank Arena. Cardaño-Hillary led the Patriots with 28 points, four rebounds and four assists. She finished 11-of-12 from the charity stripe.
SCOUTING VCU
VCU used a 16-3 run to rally past Saint Louis, 67-60, on Sunday to improve to 11-3 in the Atlantic 10. Taya Robinson scored a team-high 20 points with 18 of them coming in the second half while Danielle Hammond scored 15 points, grabbed eight rebounds and blocked five shots.
The Rams have three players averaging double figure scoring; Tera Reed (15.75), Hammond (11.22) and Robinson (10.43). VCU ranks second in the Atlantic 10 in field goal percentage (.412) while Hammond ranks first in the league in the category (.640).
The Rams are second in Atlantic 10 standings with two conference games remaining.
