FAIRFAX, Va. – George Mason men's volleyball great Shaun Powell ('06) has been selected into the EIVA's 2020 Hall of Fame class along with two other men's volleyball standouts, the conference released Friday.
Powell was a four-time letter winner for the Patriots and a mainstay in the program's record books.
His mark of 1,537 career kills and 4.9 kills per set are both the best in program history (rally scoring era). In 2005, Powell's 39 kills versus Purdue Fort-Wayne (Jan. 21) remains the most recorded kills in a single match in Mason history. Powell's 512 career digs ranks him 11
th in program history (all-era) as well.
The 2006 NCAA All-American led the Patriots in kills (470) and kills per set (5.22) in his final season in Fairfax.
"Like so many of our current Hall of Fame members," EIVA President and Mason Senior Associate Athletic Director
Ron Shayka said. "This year's class not only had outstanding collegiate careers, they all continued to add remarkable accolades to their volleyball legacies after college."
The three men will be honored into the ninth Hall of Fame class during the NCAA National Collegiate Championships, which will be held May 7-9 at Eagle Bank Arena in Fairfax, Va.
