FAIRFAX, Va. - The George Mason University men's basketball team will celebrate Mason Homecoming with a contest vs. Saint Joseph's Saturday afternoon in EagleBank Arena.

Tip-off between the Patriots and Hawks is set for 4:30 p.m. Saturday's game will be televised nationally on NBC Sports Network, featuring commentary from Rich Lerner and David Kaplan. In addition, Bill Rohland will call the game on the GoMason Digital Network, with streaming coverage set to begin at 4:15 p.m.

PATRIOT POINTS
• The Patriots wrapped up a stretch Wednesday in which they played four of five on the road with a 65-50 setback at top-75 foe Richmond..

• Mason held the Spiders 10 points under their season average (75.1 ppg) and limited UR to 18.8 percent (3-16) from beyond the arc after Richmond entered the game shooting at a 36.5 percent clip.

• On the other side of the floor, Mason struggled taking care of the ball (19 turnovers), which the Spiders turned into a 19-2 edge in points off turnovers for the game. The Patriots also shot 39.1 percent (18-46) for the game and made 4-of-17 attempts (.235) from beyond the arc.

• The Patriots have averaged 18.5 turnovers/game over the past four contests after taking care of the ball well for much of the season. Mason averaged 12.2 turnovers through the first nine games of A-10 play.

• Sophomore Jordan Miller posted 11 points and grabbed a season-best nine rebounds vs. the Spiders. He's scored 10+ points in six-straight contests.

• Mason's most consistent scorer, junior Javon Greene added 11 points at Richmond, but is at just 8.3 points per game over the past three contests. He had averaged 19.1 points in the seven games prior, providing a major boost in the absence of Justin Kier.

• Mason is 2-8 since senior star Justin Kier re-injured his foot (fracture) on Jan. 14.

• After being out-rebounded in the first three A-10 games (-13.6 average margin), the Patriots have held the rebounding edge in nine of the past 10 games (+5.2 average margin). The Patriots are now third in the A-10 in rebounding margin (+2.7) on the year.

• Redshirt-junior forward AJ Wilson has been hampered for the last game and a half with an ankle sprain, sustained late in the first half vs. GW on Feb. 15. He has scored 11 total points (4-11 FG), along with two rebounds and two blocks in those three halves since while fighting through the injury.

HISTORY vs. SAINT JOSEPH'S
Saturday's matchup marks the 10th all-time meeting between Mason and Saint Joseph's. SJU holds a 5-4 lead in the series, although the Patriots have won four of the past five meetings. Mason is 4-2 vs. the Hawks under Dave Paulsen. SJU has captured three of the four matchups in Fairfax. Last season, Mason opened A-10 play with a dominant 85-60 victory over the Hawks in Philadelphia. In 2018, Mason won both regular season contests on buzzer beaters. In the Jan. 10, 2018 matchup in Fairfax, Otis Livingston II drained a 3-pointer as time expired to turn a one-point deficit into an 81-79 victory. On Feb. 21 in Philly, current Mason senior Ian Boyd nailed a triple as time expired to give Mason the 79-76 win. It marked the first of three-straight buzzer beaters for Boyd. He also hit game winners Feb. 24 vs. UMass and Feb. 28 at VCU.

A LOOK AT THE HAWKS (5-21, 1-12 A-10; NET No.  44, KenPom No. 260)
The Hawks were picked to finish 13th out of 14 teams in the A-10 Preseason Poll. Saint Joseph's began A-10 play 0-12, before picking up its first league win of the year Wednesday night vs. Davidson (72-71). Four of Saint Joseph's five wins are against KenPom top-150 teams, including a pair of top-75 victories (UConn, Davidson). The Hawks have struggled primarily on the defensive end, where the team ranks 313th in defensive efficiency (1.092 points/possession). SJU has been led by Ryan Daly this season, although the redshirt-junior has missed the past two games. He averages an impressive all-around 20.4 points, 7.4 rebounds and 4.3 assists per contest. Freshman Cameron Brown (9.7 ppg) and redshirt-sophomore Myles Douglas (8.3 ppg) also supplement the SJU offense.
