Mason Heads to D.C. for #RevRivalry Matchup Saturday

FAIRFAX, Va. – The George Mason women's basketball team heads to the D.C. for a Revolutionary Rivalry showdown with George Washington on Saturday.
 
Tip-off between the Patriots and Colonials is scheduled for 2 p.m. at the Smith Center. Saturday's game will be broadcast nationally on ESPN+.
 
PATRIOT POINTS
* Mason looks to sweep the season series against George Washington for the second straight year when the Patriots face the Colonials at 2 p.m. Saturday inside the Smith Center.
 
* Mason begins a stretch of its A-10 schedule in which the Patriots play three of four games on the road. The Patriots are looking for their first A-10 road win of the season.
 
* The Patriots are coming off a 64-51 home loss to Saint Louis on Sunday. Mason finished with a 33.3 percent (20-60) mark from the field. The Patriots are 1-14 when shooting below 40.0 percent in a contest.
 
* Junior Nicole Cardaño-Hillary led the Patriots with a team-high 23 points to go along with five assists and four rebounds. She moved into fourth all-time in Mason scoring with 1,645 career points.
 
* Junior Marika Korpinen scored 13 points, including nine in the second quarter on 3-of-3 shooting from 3-point range, to go along with a team-high six rebounds.
 
* Cardaño-Hillary has recorded double-doubles in two of the last three games: 16 pts/10 rebs vs. Rhode Island and 17 pts/10 rebs vs. UMass.
 
* Mason snapped an eight-game losing streak with a commanding 73-56 win over UMass on Feb. 5. Jacy Bolton (17), Cardaño-Hillary (17) and Korpinen (16) combined for 50 of Mason's 73 points.
 
* Cardaño-Hillary is second in the Atlantic 10 in scoring (17.8 ppg). Forward Camarie Gatling is second in the A-10 in field goal percentage (.519) and is third on the team in scoring, averaging 8.6 points per game. 
 
* Bolton is tied ninth in the A-10 with 6.3 rebounds per game, and second on the team in points per game (9.2).
 
* Cardaño-Hillary is the only player in program history to rank in the top-5 all-time in scoring (1,645), 3-pt field goals made (146) and steals (203). She is 20 points shy of a third-place tie with Jeanne Daunoras (1980-84) with 1,665 career points.
 
* Bolton sits eighth on Mason's all-time rebounding list with 701 boards. She's 26 rebounds shy of a seventh-place tie with Jerolyn Weathersby (1987-91) with 727.
 
* When scoring more than 70 points, Mason is 6-1.  In wins, they are averaging 70.9 points while allowing just 59.8 points a game. 
 
* Cardaño-Hillary has scored in double figures in 21-of-24 games this season and posted 20+ points in eight games. She has scored 30+ points in her career five times - the fifth most in school history.
 
* Mason ranks first in the A-10 in offensive rebounds (14.8). In A-10 games only, the Patriots are second in offensive rebounds per game (14.0) and are +40 in total offensive rebounds (154-114) and +17 in total rebounds (421-404).
 
SERIES HISTORY
George Washington leads the all-time series, 24-13. Mason has won the last three matchups, breaking the Colonials' 13-game winning streak against the Patriots. 
 
Earlier this season, Mason earned a 70-60 victory over GW in its conference opener on Jan. 4 inside EagleBank Arena. Freshman forward Tamia Lawhorne ignited for a personal-best 22 points (8-16 FG, 3-5 3FG). She scored 15 points in the third quarter alone, including 11 straight during a 20-0 run by the Patriots.
 
SCOUTING GEORGE WASHINGTON
George Washington recently fell to La Salle 61-54 on Saturday inside the Smith Center. The Colonials overcame double-digit deficits six times this season, but were unable to pull off the comeback against the Explorers. 
 
The Colonials are led in scoring by forward Alexandra Maund (9.8), guard Tori Hyduke (9.3) and guard Sydney Zambrotta (9.0). Redshirt freshman Mayowa Taiwo, who ranks fourth on the team in scoring (8.0), recorded her second career double-double vs. La Salle with 10 points and 11 rebounds.
 
GW sits 10th in Atlantic 10 standings with a conference record of 4-7, and overall record of 10-14.

Mason returns home for a Wednesday contest against Richmond (Feb. 19). Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. inside EagleBank Arena.
