FAIRFAX, Va. - The George Mason University men's basketball team renews its Revolutionary Rivalry with George Washington on Saturday inside EagleBank Arena.

Tip-off between the Patriots and Colonials is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. Saturday's game will be televised nationally on NBC Sports Network, featuring commentary from Kenny Rice and Tim McCormick. In addition, Bill Rohland will call the game on the GoMason Digital Network, with streaming coverage set to begin at 4:15 p.m.

PATRIOT POINTS
• It's Mason's first home game in 18 days, as the Patriots just wrapped up a three-game A-10 road swing. Mason will now play three of its next four in EagleBank Arena.

• The Patriots are coming off an impressive 72-67 win at top-40 opponent VCU Wednesday night in Richmond. Mason used a 16-0 second-half run to build a commanding lead, then held off a late VCU push to capture its second Siegel Center victory in the past three seasons.

• Mason and Rhode Island are the only A-10 programs to have won two games at the Siegel Center since 2018.

• After being outrebounded by VCU 40-25 in the first meeting in Fairfax, Mason completely flipped the script with a superb +21 (48-27) edge on the glass Wednesday. The Patriots grabbed 15 offensive rebounds and scored 13 second chance points in the game.

• After being out-rebounded in the first three A-10 games (-13.6 average margin), the Patriots have held the rebounding edge in seven of the past eight games (+5.8 average margin).

• Redshirt-junior AJ Wilson led the Green & Gold with his sixth-career double-double at VCU (14 pts, 11 reb, 5 blk).

• During the win, Wilson became Mason's single season blocks leader, passing Mason great George Evans (1998-99). He is up to 80 blocks on the season and 152 overall (4th all-time at Mason). Wilson is fourth in the nation in blocks/game (3.3) in 2019-20.

• Sophomore Jamal Hartwell II continued his improved shooting with 10 points (2-5 3pt FG) at VCU. After a prolonged slump from deep, Hartwell II has made eight of 18 3-point attempts (.444) over the past three contests.

• After tallying 72 at VCU, Mason is now 7-1 when scoring 70 or more points this season, but just 7-9 when scoring less than 70. The Patriots are 12-3 when hitting at 40 percent or better from the field.

• Junior Javon Greene is eighth in the A-10 in scoring in league play (16.3 ppg) and third in steals (2.4 spg). He's scored 10+ points in seven of the past nine contests and 19 of 24 games overall.

RAISING THE BAR IN KIER'S ABSENCE
Juniors Javon Greene and AJ Wilson have taken their games up a notch in the eight games since 2019 A-10 Most Improved Player Justin Kier fractured his foot on Jan. 13. Greene has tallied 17.6 points and shot an improved 43.5 percent from the floor, while Wilson is at 14.1 points and 8.6 rebounds per contest. Freshmen Xavier Johnson (8.6 ppg, 4.1 rpg, 3.0 apg) and Josh Oduro (6.0 ppg, 5.0 rpg) also have increased their production significantly in Kier's absence. Oduro also has held his own against some of the A-10's top big men, including Marcus Santos-Silva (VCU) and Tre Mitchell (UMass).

HARTWELL II BACK TO FORM
Sophomore Jamal Hartwell II was Mason's top 3-point shooter until returning from the Cayman Islands, when his cold streak coincided with an illness he battled for an extended period. During that eight-game stretch from Dec. 3-Jan. 15, Hartwell II shot just 15 percent (6-40) from 3-point range. Hartwell II shot 37.3 percent from deep over the season's first nine games and is at 38.5 percent over five games since returning from his illness. Outside of that eight-game funk, Hartwell II is at 37.6 percent (32-85) in the other 14 games he's played.

HISTORY vs. GW
Wednesday's game will mark the 27th all-time meeting in the Revolutionary Rivalry. George Mason and George Washington are separated by just 20 miles and are situated on the same DC Metro line (Orange). GW holds a 20-6 advantage in the series and is 10-4 in A-10 games against the Patriots. However, Mason has won four of the past five matchups between the schools.

GW won the first game this season in Foggy Bottom, 73-67, on Jan. 15. Mason shot 38.1 percent for the game in its first A-10 contest without Justin Kier, while GW shot 47 percent from the floor and 49 percent from 3-point range. AJ Wilson led Mason with 18 points and 11 rebounds, while Jordan Miller (12 pts) and Javon Greene (11 pts) also reached doubled figures for the Patriots.

A LOOK AT THE COLONIALS (10-14, 4-7 A-10; NET No.  203, KenPom No. 225)
George Washington was picked to finish 13th out of 14 teams in the 2019-20 Atlantic 10 preseason poll.  Redshirt-senior Armel Potter leads GW with 14.5 points per game and is 34th nationally with 5.5 assists per contest. Freshman Jamison Battle adds 12.1 points and 5.4 rebounds per game, while Maceo Jack (11.0 ppg) and Jameer Nelson Jr. (11.0 ppg) also average 10+ points for the Colonials.
