FAIRFAX, Va. – The George Mason women's basketball team welcomes Ole Miss to EagleBank Arena on Saturday. Tip-off in Fairfax is scheduled for noon.
Saturday's game will be televised nationally on CBS Sports Network, with commentary by Julianne Viani and Ed Cohen. In addition, Brian McSweeney will call the game on the GoMason Digital Network, with pre-game coverage beginning at 11:50 a.m.
PATRIOT POINTS
* Mason nearly pulled off the comeback Wednesday in Fairfax but could not quite get past the Tribe, falling 48-43 inside EagleBank Arena. After trailing by as many as 18 (29-11), the Patriots pulled within one with less than three minutes left. But William & Mary was able to stave off the comeback bid and hang on for the victory.

Daijah Jefferson posted her second double-double of the season with 14 points and a career-high 14 rebounds.
* Sophomore
Jazmyn Doster finished with 13 points and nine rebounds. She scored seven of her 13 points in the final quarter, sparking the Patriots' comeback effort.
* Sophomore
Jordan Wakefield made her first start of the season against William & Mary. She has scored in double figures in three games this season: Navy (10), Longwood (11) and JMU (12).
* Jefferson is averaging nearly a double-double for the Patriots. She ranks third in the A-10 in rebounding (9.4) and 13th in scoring (13.4). She also ranks first in the league in FT made (24) and FT attempts (33).
* Mason is outscoring its opponents 115-76 in the fourth quarter (+39) while shooting 40.0 percent from the floor (32-80). But the Patriots are -23 in the opening period (84-61) and shooting just 25.9 percent from the field (22-85).
* Senior
Marika Korpinen has scored in double figures 21 times in her career, and four times this season. She has led the Patriots in scoring in two games this year.
* Jefferson (13.4), Korpinen (12.4) and Doster (10.2) are averaging double figures through five games this season. The trio has also posted Mason's four double-doubles this year with Jefferson owning two of them.
* After ranking 12th in the A-10 in free throw percentage a year ago (.665), Mason currently boasts a free throw percentage of .718. Nationally, they rank 19th in free throws made (89) and 24th in free throws attempts (124).
* The Patriots continue to be efficient on the boards, ranking first in the A-10 and sixth nationally in offensive rebounds per game (19.2). Mason also ranks second in the A-10 and 45th nationally in rebounds per game (44.8). The Patriots have three players in the top-20 in the A-10 in rebounding: Jefferson (3rd, 9.4), Doster (13th, 7.2) and Korpinen (18th, 6.0).
* For the first time in 22 years, Mason had five players finish in double figures in consecutive games: Navy (Nov. 29) and Longwood (Dec. 1). The last time Mason had five players in double figures in back-to-back games was at Seton Hall on Dec. 2, 1998 and vs. Coppin State on Dec. 8, 1998.
SERIES HISTORY
Saturday's matchup marks the first-ever meeting between the two teams. The Patriots are 1-8 all-time against SEC opponents. This will be the Patriots' first meeting against a SEC opponent since Dec. 23, 2015 when Auburn defeated Mason 88-59.
Mason's lone victory against the SEC came on Dec. 30, 1996 when the Patriots knocked off #12 Auburn in overtime in the championship game of the Central Florida Tournament.
SCOUTING OLE MISS
Ole Miss comes to Fairfax with an unblemished record of 5-0 on the young season. The Rebels most recently picked up an 89-65 win over Jackson State on Tuesday in Oxford.
The Rebels have four players averaging double figures: Shakira Austin (16.0), Donnetta Johnson (14.0), Madison Scott (13.2) and Snudda Collins (10.2). Austin, ESPN's No. 1 rated transfer from Maryland, was named to the Preseason All-SEC Team and Lisa Leslie Award Watch List.
Ole Miss ranks seventh nationally in shooting defense, holding opponents to 29.5 percent from the field. They are also NCAA's ninth-best scoring defense with a mark of 51.2 points allowed per game. On the offensive end of the floor, the Rebels rank seventh nationally and first in the SEC in assists per game (21.6).
UP NEXT
The Patriots will wrap up non-conference play with a home game against Delaware State on Monday (Dec. 21). Tip-off was moved to 7 p.m. to accommodate the men's game at 1 p.m.

The capacity at EagleBank Arena for the upcoming Patriots' basketball games is currently set at 250 spectators following the current COVID-19 safety guidance from the Commonwealth of Virginia.
A limited number of tickets will be made available to George Mason students and guests of student-athletes. Approximately 150 seats will be reserved for season ticket holders. Tickets will be sold on a single-game basis. Ticketing for the basketball games will be strictly digital. The transition exclusively to mobile ticketing adds convenience for season ticket holders, while also allowing for contact-less entry to EagleBank Arena.
