FAIRFAX, Va. – The George Mason women's basketball team hosts William & Mary on Wednesday, Dec. 16, at 3 p.m. inside EagleBank Arena.
The game was added as a replacement for Mason's previously scheduled game against Georgetown on Dec. 13, which was canceled Thursday morning due to a positive Covid-19 test in the Hoya program.
Wednesday's game will be broadcast nationally on ESPN+, with commentary by
Steve Kolbe. In addition, Brian McSweeney will call the game on the GoMason Digital Network, with pre-game coverage beginning at 2:50 p.m.
PATRIOT POINTS
* Mason fell to in-state foe James Madison, 89-70, on Dec. 6 in Harrisonburg. The first-half hole (51-28) proved too large to overcome as the Patriots moved to 2-2 overall.
* Junior
Devyn Wilson recorded career highs in points (15), field goals made (5), free throws made (5) and steals (2) vs. JMU. It marked Mason's fourth different leading scorer over four games.
* Senior
Marika Korpinen chipped in 15 points and four assists. It marked the 21st double-digit scoring performance of her career, and fourth of the season. She averaged 17.0 ppg, 6.0 rpg and 5.5 apg in a 1-1 week for the Patriots (Nov. 30-Dec. 6).
* Sophomore
Jordan Wakefield has scored in double figures in three straight games: Navy (10), Longwood (11) and JMU (12). Her 12 points against JMU tied her career high from a season ago. She made a personal-best five field goals (5-13 FG).
* Graduate student
Daijah Jefferson notched her fourth straight double-digit scoring performance with 10 points and added a team-high eight rebounds vs. JMU.
* For the first time in 22 years, Mason had five players finish in double figures in consecutive games, Navy (Nov. 29) and Longwood (Dec. 1). The last time Mason had five players in double figures in back-to-back games was at Seton Hall on Dec. 2, 1998 and vs. Coppin State on Dec. 8, 1998.
* Through four games this season, three different Patriots have recorded double-doubles: Jefferson, Doster and Korpinen.
* Mason is outscoring its opponents 98-65 in the fourth quarter (+33).
* Korpinen (13.5) and Jefferson (13.3) rank 14th and 15th, respectively, in the Atlantic 10 in scoring.
* After ranking 12th in the A-10 in free throw percentage a year ago (.665), Mason currently boasts a free throw percentage of .733 – good for fourth in the league. Nationally, they rank 30th in free throws made (77) and 33rd in free throws attempts (105).
* The Patriots continue to be efficient on the boards, ranking first in the A-10 and fifth nationally in offensive rebounds per game (19.5). Mason also ranks second in the A-10 and 35th nationally in rebounds per game (46.2). The Patriots have three players in the top-20 in the A-10 in rebounding: Jefferson (6th, 8.3), Doster (15th, 6.8) and Korpinen (16th, 6.3).

Nyla Milleson is now three wins away from 100 victories at Mason.
SERIES HISTORY
The former CAA foes will be meeting for the first time since 2013, and for the 73rd time in program annals. Mason leads the all-time series 49-23, but is 3-8 in the last 11 meetings between the two teams.
SCOUTING WILLIAM & MARY
William & Mary picked up its first win of the season with a 60-51 win over Navy Sunday at Kaplan Arena. Redshirt junior Sydney Wagner finished with 23 points on 8-of-10 shooting, 5-of-7 from deep.
Wagner was named preseason All-CAA
honorable mention by vote of the league coaches. She ranked third on the team at 8.3 points per contests in 2019-20.
W&M is coming off its best season in school history during 2019-20. The Tribe posted school records in wins (21), CAA wins (12) and road wins (11). The team also achieved its highest seed in the CAA Tournament at No. 3.
The Tribe was picked eighth in the preseason standings by vote of the league coaches. W&M will be down two scholarship players in 2020-21 as senior Libby Underwood and junior Eva Hodgson elected to opt out due to COVID-19 concerns.
