FAIRFAX, Va. – Former George Mason University All-A-10 center Shevon Thompson begins his fifth season of professional basketball in Spain this fall.
Thompson will suit up for Montakit Fuenlabrada this October, with a roster which includes former Maryland star Melo Trimble.
Thompson most recently competed for Filou Oostende in the Belgium Euromillions League, where he averaged 12.1 points and 7.6 rebounds in 2019-20. He was named the All-Belgian League Center of the Year and earned a spot in the league's All-Star Game. In 13 Basketball Champions League games, Thompson averaged 13.5 points and 10.1 rebounds per contest.
During his successful professional career, Thompson also has suited up in the NBA G League for the Erie Bayhawks, Raptors 905, College Park Skyhawks and Wisconsin Herd.
The Clarendon, Jamaica, native played two seasons for George Mason from 2014-16, earning All-Atlantic 10 Third Team honors as a junior in 2014-15. During that season, he led the Patriots in both scoring (12.5 ppg) and rebounding (11.3 rpg). As a senior in 2015-16, Thompson led the Atlantic 10 in rebounding (10.6 rpg), tallied 13 double-doubles, and started 29 of 31 contests.
His 11.0 rebounds per game average ranks first all time in the Mason record books. He also is seventh all time in career field goal percentage (.565).
