Justin Kier has suffered an injury to his right foot, head coach
Dave Paulsen announced Wednesday.
Kier has re-fractured the foot and will undergo surgery to repair the injury. There is no immediate timetable on his return.
"I am absolutely heartbroken for Justin," Paulsen said. "In my 26 years as a head coach I have never had a better leader or teammate. Justin worked so hard, and so selflessly, this off-season. He was poised to have a monster senior year. Then, he exhibited as much grace and humility in leading our team as he recovered from his initial injury this fall. To reinjure his foot at this time doesn't seem fair. Everyone involved with our program will support and encourage Justin as he attacks yet another comeback. He is an incredible person and I know he'll write a beautiful next chapter in his story."
Kier originally sustained a stress fracture in September and missed the first portion of the season. The Grottoes, Va., product returned to the court and has played in nine games in 2019-20.
