Fairfax, Va.— For one night only this season, Mason's wrestling team will host a dual match in EagleBank Arena. The Patriots host Brown University, Saturday, Jan. 11 at 5 p.m.
The Patriots (6-3, 2-2 MAC) will wrestle the Bears for the first time in seven years. Brown defeated Mason, 20-16, the last time the two teams met, Jan. 11, 2013.
Brown begins its dual season and EIWA Conference play at American University tonight before crossing the river into Virginia on Saturday.
The match will be broadcast nationally on ESPN+.

Colston DiBlasi is two wins shy of 100 in his collegiate career. The Patriots have six 100-win wrestlers in program history, led by Paul Maltagiati with 122.
*DiBlasi earned a third-place finish at The Southern Scuffle at 149 pounds. He also won the Gorarrian Award, presented to the wrestler with the most pins in the shortest amount of time. In seven matches, DiBlasi had four pins in 15:59.

Alex Madrigal (141) entered TrackWrestling rankings this week at 29. DiBlasi (149) moved up in the rankings from 33rd to 25th.
*DiBlasi and Brown's Ricky Cabarillas met earlier this year on the mat at the Navy Classic (11/23). Diblasi won the match with a fall at 6:58.

Alex Madrigal earned a fifth-place finish at The Southern Scuffle at 141 pounds. In wrestlebacks, Madrigal earned a major decision over Cleveland State's Evan Cheek, 8-0, before dropping a close, 3-0 decision to Lock Haven's Kyle Shoop.
*The NCAA released the debut standings for the 2020 NCAA Wrestling Awards that will be awarded in March.
Colston DiBlasi stands in third place with nine falls at 149 pounds. Cornell's Ben Darmstadt leads with 11 this season.

Alex Madrigal holds a commanding lead in the NCAA Wrestling Awards race for the most tech falls in Division I with 10, four more than second-place Quentin Perez of Campbell. Purdue 125-pounder Devin Schroder holds the time tiebreaker over three other wrestlers with five tech falls to sit in third.

Mason Wrestling is proud to host Kathy McKay and Elia Ahmadian as Honorary Coaches as Mason takes on Brown University. Kathy McKay, Owner of Jim McKay Chevrolet, and her family have been generous supporters of Mason Athletics for more than 20 years and continue to be strong advocates for all of Mason's 22 varsity sports. Elia Ahmadian, General Manager for Jim McKay Chevrolet, has quickly become a strong advocate for Mason wrestling through his passion for the sport in which he participated while attending Fairfax High School.
Both Kathy and Elia have generously contributed to the success of the wrestling program while also becoming great champions of the Wrestling Room Renovation Project. Mason Athletics is grateful for their support and honored to host them tonight!
