In the opening tournament of the season, finished second at the Southeast Open winning four straight matches at 149 pounds before falling, 15-6, to NCAA All-American and No. 2 ranked Brock Mauller (Missouri) in the championship... Finished with a third-place finish at the Southern Scuffle (Jan. 1-2) and won the Gorarrian Award, presented to the wrestler with the most pins in the shortest amount of time....
