Biography

2019-20: The redshirt senior was an NCAA Qualifier for the second straight season... The NCAA canceled the tournament a week before it was to start due to the coronavirus pandemic... .The team captain finished with 10 falls during the 2019-20 season to finish tied for eighth place in the NCAA DI award's race... In his 149-weight class, he finished first, tied with Virginia's Denton Spencer and Campbell's Jacob Kaiser.I most falls... He earned  a career-high 32 wins (32-10)... In the opening tournament of the season, finished second at the Southeast Open winning four straight matches at 149 pounds before falling, 15-6, to NCAA All-American and No. 2 ranked Brock Mauller (Missouri) in the championship... Finished with a third-place finish at the Southern Scuffle (Jan. 1-2) and won the Gorarrian Award, presented to the wrestler with the most pins in the shortest amount of time.... In seven matches, DiBlasi had four pins in 15:59 to earn the honor.... In a match against Lock Haven’s Brock Port on January 18, Colston celebrated his 100th career win... The milestone has only been achieved by six other wrestlers in Patriots’ history... He leaves Mason ranked sixth in career wins (108), just one win behind Rob Becker... Earned National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) Academic All-American... Member of the MAC All-Academic Team... Off the mat, the mathematics major took care of business earning 2020 Academic All-MAC honors.... After graduation, plans to go to graduate school to earn a master’s degree in education to become a high school math teacher... plans to continue his passion for wrestling as a high school coach.

2018-19:  Qualified as the 30th seed for the 2019 NCAA Division I Championships at 165 pounds…Placed fourth at 165 pounds at the 2019 Eastern Wrestling League Championships held at EagleBank Arena in Fairfax, Va. on March 9…Selected by the team as the Jerry Mullins Coaches’ Award winner at the Mason annual banquet…Selected Virginia Sports Information Directors (VaSID) All-State Second Team…NWCA Division I Scholar All-American (one of only 12 EWL wrestlers to earn the honor)…Finished his first season with the Patriots with a 29-14 overall record, including an 11-3 dual mark…Set a career-high and finished third on the team in wins (29)…Went 3-1 in Eastern Wrestling League duals…Second in the NCAA with 17 pins during the season…Registered 17 falls, five major decisions and seven decisions on the season…Competed in five tournaments, placing second at the Jonathan Kaloust Bearcat Open (Nov. 11), Navy Classic (Nov. 17) and Patriot Open (Dec. 9) and finished fourth at the Hokie Open (Nov. 4)…Competed in 42 matches at 165 pounds (29-13 record) and one match at 174 pounds (0-1 record)…Placed fourth at the Hokie Open on Nov. 4, winning two matches with 7-4 decision against Rodney Shepard (UNC Pembroke) and a fall (4:43) over Maliik Marcin (Duke)…Placed second at the Bearcat Open on Nov. 11 in Binghamton, N.Y., recording three victories, with a 10-2 major decision over Dillon Taylor (Navy), a pin (4:33) against Tyler Casamenti (Lehigh) and a pin (8:21) against Malik Dawkins (Cornell)…Recorded all four of his wins by fall to place second at the Navy Classic in Annapolis, Md. on Nov. 17, defeating Aaron Olmos (Oregon State) at 5:20, Bryce Martin (Navy) at 2:20, Isaac Bast (Kent State) at 2:23 and Cameron Pine (Navy) at 4:08 of the match…Won his first EWL match with a 15-4 major decision over Alex Carida (at Bloomsburg) on Nov. 29…Earned a 12-6 decision against Noah Grover (Buffalo) on Dec. 8… Placed second at the Patriot Open on Dec. 9, with three of his four wins by fall, defeating Jordan Florence (Virginia Tech) at 4:47, Jack Conway (Penn) at 1:50 and Timothy Fitzpatrick at 3:47 of the match…Notched a pin against Erik Eva (at Davidson) on Dec. 20…Won three bouts at the Southern Scuffle on Jan. 1-2, recording an 11-6 decision over Trey Watson (Chattanooga), a 6-3 decision over Riley Smucker (Appalachian State) and a pin at 1:23 of the first period against Mason Eaglin (Duke)…Posted an 11-0 major decision against John Vaughn (Cleveland State) on Jan. 10…Won by fall (7:00) over Laurence Kosey (Columbia) on Jan. 10…Registered a pin (6:05) over Dazjon Castor (The Citadel) on Jan. 13…Picked up a 4-2 decision over Evan DeLong (at Clarion) on Jan. 17…Won by fall (2:46) over Crew Fullerton (at Franklin & Marshall) on Feb. 9…Posted a pin (2:18) against Anthony Wokasch (at American) on Feb. 15…Notched a 9-0 major decision over Philip Spadafora (Maryland) on Feb. 17…Needed overtime for an 8-6 decision (SV-1) over Chris Mauriello (at Hofstra) on Feb. 22…Won two matches at the 2019 EWL Championships, recording his 17th pin (:54) of the season over Ryan Ford (Cleveland State) in the quarterfinals and a 9-7 (SV-1) victory over Fritz Hoehn (Edinboro) in the consolation round to advance to the third-place match…Dropped a 14-4 major decision to Josh Shields (Arizona State) and a 5-1 decision to Tyler Morland (Northwestern) at the NCAA Championships in Pittsburgh, Pa. on March 31.
 
Prior to Mason:  Wrestled three years at Iowa State…Two-time Missouri Valley College Open Champion (2016, 2017)…Compiled a 20-12 record with 17 pins his redshirt sophomore year (2017-18)…Finished his redshirt freshman year with a 23-18 record, led the team with 15 pins and placed sixth at the Big 12 Championship (2016-17)...Redshirted in his first season at Iowa State, posting a 16-5 record while wrestling unattached (2015-16).
