FAIRFAX, Va. - The George Mason men's volleyball team (1-1, 0-0) defeated No. 12 USC (1-1, 0-0) in straight sets (25-23, 25-23, 25-20) on Friday night inside the RAC.
"Our boys played better tonight and I thought we cleaned up a few things from last time out," head coach Jay Hosack said. "It's a work in progress, so we have more work to do."
Senior Hayden Wagner led the Patriots with match-highs in 14 kills and 16.5 pts., including the final point, a service ace to close out the Trojans.
Sophomore Richie Hoff gave Mason a resurgence off the bench when he replaced redshirt sophomore Mike Kapusta due to an early-game injury. Hoff earned six kills, an assist and a dig in his three sets played.

The Patriots are back home tomorrow to take on No. 7 Stanford at 7 p.m. inside the RAC for the final match of the AVCA Men's Showcase.
Stanford defeated NJIT earlier in the day 3-1 (21-25, 25-16, 25-14, 25-14) in the first contest of the showcase hosted in Fairfax, Va.
